Were looking into Nocturnal Kane, from what I have seen and been reading, he is supposed to throw a lot of drive, independence, and accuracy.
I think some of this may be temperament related as well. Hounds have personalities just like any dog. Some are more independent and alpha like, while others are more pack dogs, and take to affection, and the company of others. I think both should be appreciated for what they are.
Something to think about
There is puppy temperament tests out there that can be given at 8 weeks old. To test for indpendence, and alpha like behavior.
Top German Shepard breeders use this to pick out pups for police training.
I would think the same could be applied for competition hunters.
