Which registration did you opt for?

Is the 4 gen papers enough for you or did you go for the 6 or 7 gen papers? If you chose 6 or 7, why?

Depends on the dog I guess. I have a male with a 4 gen. all grand pedigree and you can do the research and see what dogs come out who and pretty much get an idea of what would be on 7gen. papers. Had a bluetick a few years ago and paid the extra for the 7gen. and the papers were worth more than the dog was.

If the dog is special and you really want to know it's interesting but for most 3 generations is plenty .

Typically, I choose the 4 generation pedigree. As far as breeding concerns, anything further back than 4 generations is going to have so little influence it really isn't going to matter.

A dog in the 5th generation can only contribute 3.125% of the total genetic material.

Now that said, I have gotten the 7 generation papers on two females who were extremely line bred for at least 8 generations.

I'm what some people call cheap, I call frugal, LOL. I usually get the 3 gen. cause It's cheapest.

I get the seven generation. I have learned a lot about the breed's history by looking at the crosses and the results. Seeing which dogs that are related. Finding the great reproducing females that you may not here or read about. Considering the hours of enjoyment I have gotten, the price is very cheap.
