Just wondering

I know a guy that has a male dog 4 years old. Doesn't do much but has treed a coon before. He has a all grand pedigree.

I was thinking the other day that since he is a male dog, that doesn't tree coon consistently you couldn't pay people to breed to him. Even though he is from a all grand litter, but If he was a female people wouldnt have any problem breeding even though everything about the dog is the same.

So my question is why does a male have to be consistent and have titles to be used for breeding but some people will use a female as a "brood" bitch without any ability or titles??

I don't think any dog should be bred strictly because of pedigree. It should be ability first and then pedigree etc. JMO

Not tryin to start a argument, just curious

It's just like racehorses. Dogs are now the same! Bring us your 125,000 and we will breed you mare to Storm Cat!!! Now old storm cat was a winner but your mare is just a nag together we will make magic happen and you got a good chance the pups will sell fairly easy. It's the same principle in dogs they know they got a $hi#eater they just figure if the stud has a big name they can sell pups easy...

That separates the coon hunters and breeders that are in it to produce better dogs and the ones that are out to produce a couple dollars!! Jmo if a male or female doesn't posess 90% of the. Qualities you desire or more then she shouldn't be bred!!! If he or she does then you should find a mate that carriesatleast 90% of the same traits or more and maybe a little stronger in one or more of her weaknesses than cross them and don't worry about what the papers say!!!! To methat issomeoje that is trying to better there stock and the breed and if you do this you have a better chance of thewholelitterturning out!!!! 1 out of 10 is not producing!!!! Jmo 99% of the pups born today will never get a honest chance to develop what there were born with! I just wonder where all these dogs end up at"" good luck
