Advice, problem while casting

I have a two year old that I've been hunting by himself his entire life. Recently put him in a few hunts and when I'm casting him he wants to bust up in the middle of the cast and get everything growling then tries his best to get away from everything when they try to jump on him. After that he is fine, if a dog backs him on the tree he doesn't make an off bark not a thing. The only time there is any off behavior going on is at casting. I just don't get it, it's almost like he gets nervous when casting. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'de start pleasure hunting him with a few dogs before putting him back in the hunts (good way to get him scratched interfering with other hounds, and a start of a real bad habit) This way you can get after him if need be, I would be careful with a shocking collar unless he has been conditioned to its use, for it may cause a problem also. But jmo

Thanks, I've been trying to pleasure hunt him a bit with others. He is conditioned for the e-collar just looking for any advice on how to correct it as you cant really correct him any other way than the e-collar as they are running away from you lol He is really making a fine hound and this is the only complaint I have about him.

Would it help to hold him for a few seconds? Or cast him to the left or to the right

I've thought about doing that, is there any rule about holding your dog back for a few seconds til the other dogs clear?

If he has no issues like shyness or freaking out when you shock him I would pleasure hunt him with some other dogs and blow his freaking toenails off when he started trouble. Dogs got sense enough to know when they are doing wrong and he needs stopped immediately.

I have a female who's does exactly what you said, I hold her back a few seconds and haven't had anymore problems. I've noticed she mostly does it with other females and won't do it after she worn down alittle.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I hunted him with company the other night and held him back at casting. Fixed the problem right off the bat, They treed a red hot coon and were bumping all over each other and never heard the first off bark or growl. So looks like all I have to do is hold him back for a second. . . easy enough lol

Ive got one that leaves out growling a little the first drop of a cast or if ive recently gotten onto him about something. If its when Ive gotten onto him, he'll do it when I cut him alone. I think hes doing that towards me. When he does it on a cast, I think he feels the tension by picking up on me being a little nervous. Ive tried holding him back on cast but it made him worse. He never does it pleasure huntin unless, like I said, ive gotten onto him.

Holding them back.

Could cause a dog to babble also holding them back.
