I guess I'm not sure what is wrong with this. Just by watching a good hound at the drop, their head is almost always low to the ground, but then if you see them towards the end of the trail, their head is up, whether or not the trail finishes at a tree or not. I agree Dirtdevil that they are running body scent while drifting a track, but I imagine a hound doing that is going to be faster than one that has its nose to the ground the whole way.
I understand that if you are a competition hunter ground catches sure wouldn't be ideal for points. I however, am not a competition hunter, and enjoy the excitement of hunting more than any competition.
