Just starting out??? I tell everybody to read everything they can about training a coonhound...The Walk with Wick books are hard to beat. You will learn more from reading them than most guy learn from a lifetime coonhunting...Most guys dont learn from there mistakes and keep doing the same thing wrong and never it figure out......((I also tell everybody)) the best way to start out is buying a older well broke dog first..Its a lot more fun than just messing with pups.Because very few pups turn out to be keepers. And it might take 2-3 years of hunting for the average hunter. Just to find out what kind of dog the pup might be...You can always have a pup to work with. But a good old broke dog is hard to beat when you just want to have fun and hunt with your buddys..A lot of guys dont like to hunt with other guys pups..
