You get what you pay for, check out the sunfire from sunspot lights. I've had several lights but this is the best I ever saw.

Excalibur

I just got the Excalibur "belt style" 1 LED head from Crystal. It is Just as bright as my 21 volt $440.00 dollar Blazer with 5 LED head.
Excalibur is light weight and very bright.

I recently got the sunfire. Its a bright son of a gun. Its got a pop cover that's frosted. I put it on to walk with. No comparison between it and others. Course if bright is not what you want. I wouldn't get it.

Lets not miss the part "for the money". For the money, go to alibaba.com and order you a Chinese mining light for about $50. Absolutely hands down the best light for the money! Not the brightest, not the biggest spot, not a lot of difference to be seen between high and low, but it is indeed the best light for the money. If I had found this light prior to ordering the Laser torch pro I would have never ordered the torch. And I bought the torch after trying the sunspot. Sunspot was a good light but it did not dim enough and I did not like the push switch.

Sunspot is not the sunfire the sunfire has 4 positions and a turn knob. Why would you want to buy some more chinese junk and not be able to have any service or repair? there is more to "for the money" as far as I am concerned.

Yep, it sure does. I did not say anything about the sunfire.
I want to buy a light that does not require service or repair. My Chinese junk has been going strong for well over a year now, no service required!
If service is important to you, then I guess you have had to use service correct? What light do you have that has required service?
How many Chinese mining lights have you owned? I guess you do not realize many of these lights have Chinese parts, the Torch certantly does!
You need to do some research my friend!

Ok friend, I have done my research thats why I picked a quality American made product made by an electrical engineer that offers quality service. If you ever used one of Michaels lights you would see what difference there is in quality. I bought my son one of the chinese made lights that another person has put their label on and though it is bright it only has two clicks and has a light like a laser beam, you cant hardly walk by it. Cheap yes, quality no. Service may not be important to you but is is to anybody that has any sense, they may last a long time but you will have a problem some time , everything wears out or breaks eventually and your only option is to throw it away and get another one. No I havent had any issues with my sunfire but I know if I do that Michael will take care of it. It would be foolish of me to get into a pissing match over these lights because there is no comparison, just look back over all the threads about lights and caplights and see how many satisfied customers have the sunfire and try to find a complaint. If you want to settle for subquality chinese junk thats your business but dont try to make it sound like it compares to a good quality custom American made light.

I walk better with a tight spot, that is preference only and has nothing to do with quality.
It is not about finding complaints with a particular light or questioning the quality of any light. I used a Sunspot, it was a fine light but like the Laser Torch that I own, I would not have bought either had I realized the Chinese were making good quality LED lights. You can buy 6 China lights for what these others cost and they are very good quality too. There is no way you can quantify your statement about lack of quality in these Chinese mining lights.
Let me reiterate...... Many of these (if not all) $300 lights have Chinese parts whether you believe it or not!
I will stand by my statement that the best light for the money comes from China, but if you feel warm and fuzzy for dropping $300 on a light that is of similar quality, maybe a "little" brighter but is sold stateside, then go for it!

It resembles it, go ahead and get it you will be disappointed. The way I get the brightness for the Sunfire is four fold. The Led I'm using the amps, the size of the reflector and the parabolic curve of the reflector. Nothing on that light is the same except for the look.

I designed everything on the Sunfire Head from front to back. On the Sunspot I used a flash light head with my own driver. I told everyone that from the begging. I was designing a head for it when I realized that I could just get the head ready to go. It saved money and I passed that saving on to the costumer. The rest of the light builders have a head made and use a flash light drop in and it cost them more money.

As far as the Chinese lights are concerned. All of the plastic ones come from china and we all use some Chinese parts in one form or another. Some of us get a few parts and build lights and some get them complete and just resale them. Most people want a light that if something goes wrong with it they can pick up the phone and get service. The price was set by the first guy that sold a cap light. When you think of that cost being more than they are sold on eBay for. You have to consider that they are risking a lot of money. They send $5-10,000 and just have to trust that they will get something for their money. Then they have to pay for their labor, shipping, risk and make a profit.

Best one for the money? That is up to you and what you expect for $60, $100, $200 or $300.

Like I said I have both lights and there is no comparison The sunfire is lots brighter, better made and IF I have any problems with it I can get it fixed, you just throw yours away and order another. If it makes you feel warm and fuzzy to throw away your money on chink junk instead of supporting an American small businessman thats your perogative. Maybe it will give you extra points with them when they call in the notes this country owes them and take it over.

My opinion the Boss Triple Threat and Sunfire are the 2 best lights on the market, I know people that hunt with the Chinese lights no they are not the brightest no they don't have color LEDs, but they will get you from point a to point be if a coon looks you can find him. Conkey's sells them and gives a 1 year warranty around $80.
