Spring Running

While out running this past week since the weather has really warmed up, I couldn't help but notice my dogs are able to run and tree certain coon, but not others. Why is this happening? I have seen coon cross the road and turned them out and they couldn't tree it and seemed like it took them a real long time to work the track. Other tracks they smoke and put the coon up real fast. Has this happened to anyone else in the spring months?

Possibly the more or less scent between males/females. If you check sows sucking, they will have less tummy hair from nursing & will leave less scent. May also be mother nature doing her part to protect females!!! Take care, Ron.

Is it super dry???

About as dry as ever here right now....my dog has bogged down compared tons week ago....had a coon on the last drop....let's go see what this tree has...

Dry conditions are tough.....spring green up and heavy pollen etc also can be tough....as well as a heavy leaf drop in the fall...

Could be dry weather, not leaving much sent.. Also I have owned hounds that you couldn't dump on that hot of a track. They would always do better when I waited 3-5mins. Not sure why. But had this with a few hounds.
