lowend strike dogs that are always by themselfs??

Can lowend strike dogs that will only make maybe 2-3 trees in a hunt but usually deep by its self under a coon do well in the hunts? Thats in smaller and bigger hunts and in any kc, not just ukc. I have a 2 going on 3 y/o female just as i described, would it be worth trying to push her hard in the hunts?

You bet! They just need to be accurate and have the ability to tree that extra coon.

If you get put in coon you might be OK. The last time I went to Walker days I was worried my dog getting by himself might hurt me and it did the first drop. I got shut out the first drop then took a 25 strike and he got treed. The other dogs had already opened again but covered him on his tree. Im already behind 1 tree lol. He ended up scoring on 3 more coon by himself and had another one 5 minutes after the hunt by himself. Babblers killed me the first 2 trees but they got scratched for fighting. The last 2 drops I hunted by myself cause the other guy got his dog killed that night, so I got 2 first strikes. I won my cast with 750 but it took 800 to get in NT.Ch that night. Getting shut out cost me big up there. Id try to argue with the judge his time was off by 10 minutes and he just laughed at me at the last drop. So you are never going to know unless you go!

If you get in thick coon you probably not going to do that great to be honest, reason being if you get a fast dog thats quick to get treed and accurate theyre gonna be scoring 2 coons to your one.

But you never know until you go!

I thought the same thing cause where Im from coons are thin. My dog didn't have to go that far to get struck and treed after the first drop but if coons are thin and she doesn't want to tree with the quick dogs she is going to have to go the extra distance to get treed thus getting shut out like I did the first drop.

I think that is what most people want in PKC, especially in the south or in any thin coon area.

low end strike.skutter 3rd or 4th strike and always 1st tree usually allways with coon, close or deep.4th place ukc 2012 world hunt.give me a honest strike pretty accurate dog over a slick treeing idiot any night.but your answer is they can win at any level.

Sure! I had a walker gyp that never would open on a track but would go the other way (totally by herself) bark about 2xs (that was her locate) and lock it down. Had her in 3 hunts and won all three then sold her. I hated that dog. Hunting her by herself getting ready for the hunts you would sit at the truck forever not knowing where she was at or which direction until she treed! She went to Alabama and heard she won some good money in PKC. Also heard that guy lost her one night with her tracking collar own and never found her.

3rd strike and a split tree with the coon beats first and first on a slick all night long.

True, but, what happens when first and first is under a coon and not a slick all night long?

then you have a decent hunt and the best dog and handler that night wins the cast. chances are the other dog with first and first and a coon is the dog that beats you.I never minded losing to a honest dog and handler.

X2, THATS A FACT. these dogs are usually not pushed in hunts, but when they do come to one and you draw it, hang on to your hat, it can be a show.

But you never know until you go!

and could be getting some of the deep, low end, by themselfs, tree too.

lowend strike dogs that are always by themselves

I've had that kind, been there and done that for several years. You will win some for sure.
It got old though and I prefer a 1st and 1st or second and first at least. A dog that will get alone or cover if needed. Very hard to get this type. But they win alot in UKC.
Some guys pitch a tight mouth dog to win. That won't give you the winning feeling though.
