Have U Ever

Had any luck starting a pup without fooling with any cage coons or drags just put her with a good pup trainer. I have always used drags and cage coons but thinking of going this route

I have done it with caged coons and without. The last pup I just took hunting with an old dog. First night, she split treed. Second night she split treed. Third night, I took the boys and they wanted to hunt with both dogs. She split treed all night. After that, I hunted her by herself.

I don't use drags, but I have live trapped and released the coon. Then cut the coon's track with a pup.

I actually messed up one young hound by using a cage coon only twice. That dog went on to make a bear dog, but not a coon dog.

The only time I use a visual stimuli is when I got a "duffus" of a pup.
Other than that it's takem to the the woods and cut-em w/the older dogs.
I purposely stay away from drags and cage coons.I don't believe in a visual to get them started.

U gotta have the coons to go this route.
