have you ever had this happen with your garmin ???

Last nite when I was hunting my garmin said the dog was 845 yards to the right but dog was barking about 200 yards in front of me .it was jumping all around. Recalibrated it still said same thing. She got treed was standing right next to her it still was saying she was 300 yards away when I got almost back to truck it started working right .next drop worked fine. Was it haunted by a ghost or what !!!!!

I've had that to happen to me once. It showed my dog at 980 yards and showed him running 19 mph he treed 300 yards or so it showed him treed but still moving. I had to turn the collar and hand held off and back on to get it to wok right. Its never happened again.

The only time I ever had anything close to that happen to me was when I was sitting inside of my truck but after I got out it worked fine, in my case probly as with compass the interface with metal ect. of vechicle disturbing it.

Feel your pain

Mine has been doing the same thing. Start new hunt and re calibrate the compass before each hunt. Lost a dog that got out of hearing range once. Restored all factory defaults, hope that fixes mine completely...

I had that happen randomly this past January. I discovered the interference was a small cheap LED flashlight I was carrying in my pocket as a just in case light, somehow it was messing with it?

Go to

Go to the tracks page. Clear tracks>go to bottom of page> select collar delete collar "collar tracks". This does not delete the collar, just the track info. Start new hunt does not get all of it cleaned out. Do this often, like every time you swap batteries out. This keeps the memory down less than 20%. These garmins are like a computer, keep them as clean as possible and you have less trouble.
Works for me and most people I know.

2 things. What light are you using; some of them will interfere with your garmin. Next time look at your dog info page and see if the collar has a gps signal.

Sometimes the collar will not have a GPS signal but it is still talking to the handheld. So the hand held knows that the collar is out there but it can’t tell where it is. It will cause it to do what you described.
