Dang Yotes

Me and Larry had a good hunt tonight.Treed 5 singles and a den tree.
The last drop a pack of YOTES,ran our dogs outta the woods. We heard em fighting and Hammer came back in with his rear leg bleeding.Yotes done bit him threw the rear leg.Im sick and tired of them blasted yotes.

yotes

I can't stand em either. More people should feel like i do and consider it open season year round on em.!!! Our game commission is responsible for alot of that problem.

You should have seen the yardage on that garmin.Ole Hammer was
looking for the truck. He went from 600 to the truck in a matter of seconds. When he came in ,he was leaving a blood trail ,the whole way.We got him doctored up though.I hate them yotes and they just
keep multiplying.

I live on the farmin end of the county and our trouble is there are so many new age city farmers i call em. And they think it's jus horrible to kill anything. I guess they think predators are content with eatin field mice. Between coyotes and hawks our small game is dwindling.

I wish i had the coyote dogs Coble has.I would sure put a dent in the yote poulation around here. They must raise pups ,this time of year, they get awful brave. I hate em with a passion.I couldnt imagine being in upper states that have to contend with wolves. I wish Wildlife resources would so something bout these yotes.

We had a bounty on em here. We always shot em anyway but the bounty was nice. We racked up bout 20 of em an went to collect the money and the county ran out of money in the budget. Haha true story. They cut out the bounty and the neighboring county hired a full time trapper.

We got coyotes bad down here ... and the ones that live close to town get pretty brave and tough ... over the years it seems like a dog that just hugs the tree and ignores them is safe unless you tree right near a den when they have pups or you get a mean dog coyote during breeding season .... if they can see a dog is either scared of em' or pesters em' ... there's gonna be a clash.

Here's a pic of Achilla from last year when a pair stretched her out ... I walked up and shot the female coyote point blank and the male was standing 50 yards away and still mad about it .

She had about a half dozen cuts like this all over ... but this one was too close ... she got back up and went back to treeing even harder ... her adrenaline was so amped and her blood was flowing so I guess her fight or flight was fight !

Yotes

I and two of my hunting buddies declared war on them we got six running hounds between us and started killing them every week end. We've been hunting all day every Saturday.
Around here you can pick up running walkers and july cross hounds pretty cheap compared to a coon hound. The most we gave was $250 and picked up two young dogs for free.
It's easy to see where they are heading with a garmin and it's a barrel of fun, Jim.

You guys that are having trouble with your dogs getting bit are you just completely over run by coyotes now? I always see them out when cutting hay or bush hogging fields and we kill them hunting pretty often but ive never heard of anyone having much trouble out of them attacking hounds here yet. So far I dont even know of anyone having any trouble with their livestock - sure its coming though! You can tell when one is near the cattle by the way they all get alert and looking and I've seen them run after them and run them out of the field. But I know in other places they are a big problem with calves and smaller stock. Heard about some small house dogs and cats getting eaten up around here by them but about it. I feel like we've got a bunch here, I can hear 5-6 small groups of them howling and yipping all around my house most nights and just about anywhere I go to hunt at night but once our dogs strike they usually shut up and I never have seen/heard any near the dogs or at the tree. Im sure It'scoming but I guess we have been lucky for now. How many do youll see around or hear where you're having trouble? We've got a continous open season on them here day and night but I doubt that really makes much difference?

I got a recipe!!

Get you some artificial sweetner called Xylitol, it is used to sweeten sugar free gum, you can order it!!. Mix it with some scrap meat from the local butcher shop. Roll it into balls and freeze them on a baking sheet. If you got an area that is really infested with Yotes, stop hunting there for a while! Take you a ride around and just drop those froxen meat cicles out the window. The Yotes will smell them and eatem up!!! Bye Bye Yotes!! It will shut their liver down = Dead Yote!!

We ain't got that problem cause they are pretty small down here. If we kill one during deer season and leave it they leave for a while. I haven't got any ideas but you better do something cause isn't that how Lock went out?

I guess I don't quite get it, we have more and bigger coyotes than the vast majority of this country and we haven't had any problems with them yet. We bump into them all of the time when hunting, and I haven't seen any number of yotes with sack enough to mess with three or four hounds. Call our hounds trashy if you want, but if any yotes gets too close to any of our hounds, they better be fast or tough.

We always have yotes challenge barking when the hounds are on track, and you can tell on the Garmin when they are getting close, and then dead silence from the yotes. Don't know if they leave the countryside or run back down their dens.

I personally think most of the "yote attacks" people talk about on a tree are actually a gator that someone is packing but doesn't want to admit to it. Not saying it couldn't happen if a hound was singled out of a group, but I find it very hard to believe with more than one hound. Just from my personal experiences.
