PUP BARKED OUT ??? Anyone have experience

I have a 8 week old pup out of a treeing machine that has barked her self out. I have never had this happen to me before anyone else experienced this ? I put her on prednisone and it didn't seem to help she was super loud now she just squeaks. Hope its not permanent thing. anyone ever have one permanently damaged ? or has anyone have a pup or dog fully recover ?

Squeaky voice

Picked up a Black and Tan pup at SE Walker Days, (9 weeks old) Barked all day for the next two days, then he lost his voice for a day or two. Came back over the next few days. Still a little weak, vet says he'll be fine. Good luck with your pup.

I had the same thing happen this fall, You need a steroid for the inflamation and a anti biotic to give along with it.

had one do that. just had to keep him from barking. he got it back after a week or so, just not as loud. even 2 yrs later, loud but not like he was as pup. did not give antibiotics (there was no infection) or any meds. just kept bark collar on him to keep him from barking. had to rest the vocal cords

IF a dog barked that much at my place the last thing he would be worrying about is a lost voice. God I can't stand that.

Bigger pups have to wear bark collars. Small ones need a bigger pen or yard with other pups so they are comfortable.

I guess i should of clarified. This is a 7 week old pup. If we leave the house or when he is put in his kennel at night. He just lays there and cries and whines. The first night it happened he seemed to go hoarse. I was worried that it might effect his voice some how later on in life.

thats exactly what happened with mine. he was about that age. he was the only pup left. I put him in a crate in the bedroom with a stuffed toy with him. he got better. had to keep getting onto him about barking during the night. made for very tired mornings but he did get over it and got better. voice not like the horn he had but its still loud now at 2yr
