studs' what studs open here there and yonder drifting and fall treed with a coon

Doing a little research, what studs dogs are out there that open on a track, move the track in quick opening about every 75 to 125 yards, then fall treed with a coon on a high percentage of the time and chop on tree. And are fairly Independent.

Henry drifts on a cold track, opening here and there until he gets it going or gets it treed. He opens hot on a hot track. Henry is Smokey River bred.
Drifting a track is bred in a dog, but it is a trait that must be developed, and improves with age and practice. In my opinion, you can't teach a dog to drift a track. Old Diamond Jim sure put this characteristic in his pups.

meal ticket

In my opinion this style of hound is our meal ticket as for as comp dogs. close in on a coon, crowd him and make him climb....Gerald

runnin bullet 2

Produces this but if its hot, the ones i have had from him will open more like its hot. If its a cold to medium track they will do just like you described and most wont open until theyre out front

That about describes Piazon perfectly. The only thing one wonders about sometimes with one that just opens here and there is if the coon they tree is the same one they first opened on, but since they end up under one pretty quick you don't loose much sleep wondering.

Smoke has never been shy about any of these traits mor does he lack any of this ability. So far in his pups tjat are beong hunted tjey can and do the same thing.
Smoke has won alot of his cast doin this and the other dogs runnin circles trying to figure out what is goin on.

Yes, we can do that. Forget the cost, but I did it once and it was a bit expensive. Frozen is also an option.

Thabks Guy,s

for the responses, My main Agenda with this is to breed for top level comp. hound,s that get treed with a coon fairly quick, our line is full of the trait,s, But no line is without room to improve, and I believe there are some hounds out there that can strengthen and progress our effort,s, Maybe if I get lucky I can make a hunt with some of these studs and see for myself, that does not mean I don,t believe what they are saying about their hound, It,s just a level of commitment to try and make that perfect cross, thanks again, I will be in touch, some phone number,s to reach you guy,s would help also.......Gerald
