Sequestration

Well lets sure hope this doesn't happen. It will destroy the area I live in if it goes into effect. It's really funny how no one has been blaming the individual that actually signed this a couple years ago. If they would worry more about fixing our budget and other critical issues, and stop worrying about taking away our rights, then we would be fine. But I suppose you can't fix a budget that doesn't exist. I know if any of us didn't do the job we were supposed to, we would be fired. Why not them???

Stop listening to the Libs. cry wolf about the sequester, it is not in reality even a cut. It is a 2% cut in the increase over the next 10 years.

I think there will be a lot of voter unhappiness resulting in some big changes the next election. There are some Republican obstructionists that have to get re-elected fairly soon. Obama does not have to get re-elected. Who do you think is going to win in the long run?

I think the short sightedness is to think we can spend our way out of debt without making any cuts. Guess what, if me or you run short on money we have to give something up in order to make ends meet. Our government needs to do the same. I'm not saying let the sequester happen, but serious cuts need to be made to get this spending under control and your party of choice seems unwilling to do this.

It isn't a cut??? Wow. Could have fooled me. When we (the military) get told that we can't order parts to fix our gear to go on missions because the money isn't there, I'd consider that a cut. I'm glad your fine, but try telling the contractors and eventually the military when their pay gets cut to stop crying wolf. Some people actually have more interest in this than you think...

I didn't snopes this BUT I am pretty sure Obama has NOT yet signed a budget dureing his presidency. I am also willing to bet he will not in his second term.I will also be willing to bet he is the first president in history not to sign a budget.

The president submits a recommendation about budget to congress who has the real power to craft a budget that must pass both houses and than be submitted to the president to sign, it takes both to get anything done, revenue power belongs to congress, over time congress has given up much of its control of budget to the president creating the political games we now have, we need to cut spending period, but also have a steady fair revenue stream, all need to pay, personally believe the fair tax is the best option, but will never happen....

The real question is who came up with the fiscal cliff and sequestration? I may be wrong but to me it sounds like a win/win for the demo's. They get to stand their ground on spending and if the repub's dont compromise then the country goes into economic distress. If that happens the republicans will get the blame.

Not so sure about that. Talked to friend of mine today. He is a federal prison worker. If sequestration isn't avoided, he will be laid of for 14 days without pay.

To me thats a great idea for the dem's. If the sequestration isn't avoided, people will loose their jobs and it will be the repub's fault. If a person has to choose to stick to their beliefs or the welfare of their family then you know what they are going to do. Dem's win.

The bad thing about this is that people will loose jobs, military will be cut, etc, but no reduction in peoples welfare, food stamps, unemployment, etc. Only take away from people that are contributing to society, not the ones that are only taking from it. Wouldn't want to upset the voter base that elected you
