Knights' Mighty Oaks Legacy Kennels

Introducing Knights' Mighty Oaks Autumn Thunder

Not For Sale

Thunder is out of Vans Red Oaks Magnum and Vans Red Oaks Jackie.
He is a 3 year old with good solid looks and equal performance and ability in the timber. Thunder starts his tracks as they come and is very independent in the woods. He will check in on the first turn out about 30 minutes later unless he has hit a track. After that, you generally catch him at the tree. He will hunt as deep as he needs to, to find a track. He is a hard driving, hard hunting Redbone that is semi silent with a medium nose on track. He has a bawl mouth on track and a long trailing off- bawl locate on the tree that goes into a steady chop. He absolutley will not run anything but a coon. Thunder has points on the bench-line and tree.
I intend to finish him on the bench-line and tree and put an HTX title on him this year. He will be DNA tested-performance nominated and vetted for negative Brucelliosis this year.
After that, Thunder will be put up for stud to approved negative Brucelliosis tested females.
We may breed a litter or two this year and have puppies available from proven females. They will be performance nominated.

Thank you Mr. Walker

I consider myself fortunate to own him. I thought that my once in a lifetime dog had come and gone years ago. I have been blessed to have my second "once in a lifetime dog" with Thunder. He's just a fun dog to hunt.

Red Oak Lilly

I have been following Red Oak Lilly's career closely. She's a very nice hound. Thank you for the compliment. I singled Thunder out last season and purposely put him in some hard rugged terrain that had been over hunted. Thunder improved every time out. When thunder tells me he has a coon, I know it's there. He went back to the tree twice after pulling him off after I couldn't find a coon in the tree. I found both coon when I went back to him. He's easy to handle, but he's all buisness.
Thunder locates with three bawls and a long tapering bawl locate before he settles into a steady chop on the tree. He is a pressure type tree dog that won't leave the tree for any reason before you get to him.

thunder

Thunder looks just like Magumn and Lilly looks just like Jackie.I know what you are talking about when you say a dying locate,That's what made Lilly so easy to call in these competition hunts even my daughters can call her treed.Once she does that she's there for the night no matter what pressure there is. I can tell how she sets the tree up if there's meat there you don't have to check the tree its there.Going to put her in another hunt tonight Good luck with Thunder you have a outstanding looking hound set his goals high I know he can reach them his sister is truly a pleasure to follow.

Thank you for the advice. Your right...I should set my goals high for him because he deserves the chance to prove himself. Thunder is easy to call and he's an honest locater. Good luck tonight with Lilly.

I moved down here 7 years ago to do force protection for the AASF on contract and stayed. I am in charge of Security at a local hospital. And...you're right about the hat...LOL. I live between Decatur and Springfield. We used to own Leopards and Dad owned the ACBA Registration office for around 11 years. I still love Leopards, but Thunder won me over. I got out of Leopards to focus on him. When he is titled, I'll most likely get back into them and keep my Red line.

Decatur

I'm retired from CAT in Decatur...I use to hunt my dogs all the time up there, until started running out of ground to hunt on. Got tired of having cops called on me. Lost my best hound through some ice, and got out of dogs for awhile...then moved to Southern IL and got back into my hounds again a few years ago, now I have the Shawnee National Forest to hunt on and loving every minute of it. It's tuff country to hunt in, and alot of guys hate to hunt it. Normally it's straight up and straight down, no flat ground here. I was surprised that the coons are thin here, dogs have to hunt deeper. Good Luck with your dogs.

I hunt at Wolf creek. When I took my hides to the furrier an older man was there who hunts walkers. He said that he was surprised that Thunder could tree a coon there because it's over hunted. I knew that it had been hunted hard when I was planning out my beginning season. I ran into several dog handlers in the woods there. Thunder put a lot of miles on me in those woods but he got a good education in the process. The last coon I treed with him had a rough coat from rubbin trees. I know what you are saying about land being difficult to find to hunt. I travel an hour East and South to hunt him. Wolf Creek is really tough terrain also but I like to train a dog dogs in the roughest country I can find.

He sure is a beautiful hound Michael. Confirmation looks perfect on him. I want to take a momentand thank you for what youve done here with my son. To me it means the world to me that you have given him little ann So many people get wraped up in the trialing/ winning of trials and most dont stop to think about the youth. But thats not you at all. We really appreciate what youve done and you will always have a open invitation to our house anytime. Thanks Michael.

Thank you

It is my pleasure. To me, it's all about putting God first-Family second -my job next and then the dogs. I am a pleasure hunter who grew up in the woods with Dad chasing Leopards. I am building those same memories that Dad gave me with my kids with my Redbones. I have been fortunate to meet some really nice people in the process from all over the US. Glad to help.
