It's only a 100 acrea plot of public land but I found a big pile of scrap metal out there just rusting away...could I get in trouble for getting it since I don't own the land but its public and I have paid my taxes nd it would be cleaning up the land also or just leave it alone?

I would not touch it without written permission to clean up the site. Contact what ever department that controls the land.

Probably won't be able to get permission but you can try.
