I still use them in addition to my Garmin.. Out bobcat hunting my dogs can get out of the country pretty dang quick.. I've actually only used it twice in three years and once was when my Garmin went belly up in the middle of a hunt the other was just to confirm I was headed in the right direction until I could pick them back up on the Asto.. But its a huge piece of mind for me.

I use a Wildlife TRX 10 that I've had for about 9 years. I either put on the Marshall collars or the West Coast Telemetry Tag Along collars.. The Tag Alongs are great and slide onto another collar... I only use the Marshalls at night for the lights...

I have one but I haven't used it hunting for several years. The only time I use it is when I turn my pups loose to run. I will put a wildlife collar on them so if they don't come back I can go find them.

Thats all we have...a quick track....

Why?? Ive used it exactly 1 time in the last full year....and a garmin likely wasnt going to pick that dog up...

I just rarely use a tracker to need or want to spend money on something i need once a year or so....and on something that still isnt 100% reliable....say they get on a deer or yote..they cover 2-3 miles before you realize what happened...you loose signal...last time you heard em they were north...by the time you get there they took it another 3 miles west...still cant pick em up...have no idea where to look...cant hear them nowhere...a day or 2 later they havent returned....you havent picked them up...collars are now dead....

Meanwhile 1 dog has a beep collar....handler gets to a high point and gets a beep and direction..."oh he went west!"....even if it takes a day or 2 the collar still works fine....

Worse case scenario....yes...very possible?? Yep...times like that are when you need a tracker...

Buddy was at a hunt this fall...like.always he was getting.harassed about his beep beep collar.....middle of the hunt dogs are lost....the garmins didnt work.....the quick track.did! My buddy got the last laugh....

I know some.of y'all love them....great....here i heard they have.about.an.800yd range....that aint real far....

X2........We use our Wildlife TRX-1000S on our hounds with our Garmin, just in case we lose connection. Don't get me wrong Garmin's are great, and very helpful but the beep beep system are way more durable and have incredible range. We know exactly where are hounds are at all time!!!

I use a Wildlife 1000 and wildlife collars. In these thick woods I often can not get a 1/2 mile range.

Dogs can get out of pocket really fast, especually if you are away from the truck. Our deer are used to being run with dogs. They may circle tight or they may line out straight for a mile or more.

I guess mine is still in the top of the dogbox. QT 6000. I should probably put a batt in it and see if it still works. Can't even remember my old collar numbers.

I still use my Wildlife TRX 3 on some of my dogs as a backup.. I've only ever pulled it out and used it a couple times.

beep beep

Tracker Maxima is all i use, Hunted with guys that use Garmins seems like they just like playing around with it more than anything else, they like to share all that information too get an update about every 20 yards, conversation piece more than anything else very seldom do you really need a tracker, IMO.

I live on the Brazos River which runs north and south. It's not but 100 yards wide but when coon are not move the dogs will leave town to find one. There are only a few places I can drive in on for miles and if they cross the river the only bridge is 15 miles in both directions. You better have a Tracker cause a Garmin Won't do it. They can and will out run that Garmin.

A dog on a deer or yote or bear can flat out get gone in a hurry....last dog i hunted that would burn a yote if he got bored i had troubles with till the yote wore him out lol...out of hear...drive that way..almost out of hear...drive that way and out of hearing...went on for 2hrs or so....had the yote not been making 1/2mi circles it could have gotten interesting...and he would have been out running a GPS had it went straight away not circled....bear and deer chases are usually more fun....lol...that is when i am down south hunting them!

And like the nite hunts...you dont hear the dogs for an hour....pull out the gps and hmmmm no signal...been loose an hour...like happened to my buddy...he drove to the top of the hill and got the beep...gps guys still had nothing...they.just prayed the dogs were together...

Great tools.....but the bugs still need worked out IMO....i dont have any desire to sit there and watch a screen so i can find my dog on a bad nite when they dont strike within hearing...now i drive to the top of the.hill and listen..no dog? Beep beep beep beep.........or gps "no signal"....

Maybe i worry too much and that dont happen....wait...i know it happened atleast once here....

I have a Wildlife TRX 10s with 3 16000 hr. collars that have tree switches on them. It's in excellant cond. Tested the collars at 3mi. + range and had a good strong signal on all 3 collars. Put it on the board for sale. Never got any respones. Didn't think anybody still used this type anymore. I was going to sell it and put the money toward a Garmin. Sounds like I maybe should keep it and get me a garmin when I can afford it. I never thought about using it for a backup system.

If you will purchase a after market long range roof mount antenna for your garmin you can easily get 3 miles in the thickets of SE Ga. . Severa years of hauling my beep beep it was sold to a deer hunter . Garmins all you need

Voted yes but use the garmin all the time . Got my little tracker and marshall collars for when I need a extra collar on a dog . Got 2 collars for the Garmin and slip one of the marshalls on an extra dog when I need to . That extra one is usually with one or the other of the garmins and if it isn't I can still find him without much trouble . Since I already have the old system. I wouldn't go out and buy one for that .

I have never invested in a Garmin. I never turn any of my dogs loose without a tracking collar on them, even a pup I will trip over all night long. A new tracking collar only costs $100. Mine use replacable batteries, so they always have a hot charge.

I run beagles and Curs as well as hounds and a Garmin may be too heavy for smaller dogs. Plus, I hunt up to 4 beagles, I sure wouldn't want to spend the money for a Garmin collar for each of them. I rarely use my beep beeps but when I need them, they work just fine. And, my systen is PAID for.

I guess another reason i dont feel a need for one is i know most my hunting areas too well...i can tell you what tree the dog is on many times lol..i know where the roads are..i know where the fields are...i know where i can drive or walk etc...

At hunts sure that isnt true...

I will have one eventually...but for right now, i am fine...

I wanna see live feed on my smart phone...i am sure it is possible..lol

I would keep the wildlife because nobody is paying much for them nowadays. I have a beep beep with one collar that I would not sell. I also would not give you $75 for another just like it!
