Yes, it was an AR-15

Several threads have been started on this site spreading the lie that an AR15 was not used in the Sandy Hook shooting. One posted recently has a news video that is over a month old. Much has been learned since then. The exact number of shots fired by each of his guns is not yet known, but an AR15 was used, was seized INSIDE the school.

I have posted above and provided the link to a press release from the Commissioners desk at the STATE OF CONNECTICUT
Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection, Connecticut State Police Public Information Office and yet you were able to close your eyes to this info.
It is no better that the right refuses to acknowledge which gun was used in a mass killing than that much of the left is woefully ignorant about guns in general. On issues as complex and important as this you can not find common ground with people who are willfully blind or ignorant to facts. You are not helping the situation by refusing to accept reality.

Question for Ben and Diane fienstien

I purchased 2 "30 round Magazines",try as I might I can only get 28 rounds in them. Are these considered" low capacity 30 round mags"?Also I have a 4 round mag for a 742 Remington woodsmaster assault rifle that I can squeeze 5 rounds into, would this be considered a "high capacity 4 round Magazine"?If you libs want to go around nameing stuff, please post a copy of your "cliff notes" so us slower conservatives can at least keep up.

I'll be fighting to keep the laws as they are. You give your high capacity mags up. I won't. Sandy Hooks a bad deal. It's ignorant as h e l l for you to come on a hunting site and try to tell me right from wrong. Really Ben what are you trying to accomplish?

I am trying to raise the level of discourse on this site, and in particular on this subject. I am not trying to tell people right from wrong, I am trying to ensure that people have accurate information so that they can make better decisions and be a better participant in discussions on gun control and gun safety issues.
As I said earlier:
"It is no better that the right refuses to acknowledge which gun was used in a mass killing than that much of the left is woefully ignorant about guns in general. On issues as complex and important as this you can not find common ground with people who willfully blind or ignorant to facts. You are not helping the situation by refusing to accept reality."

I would prefer that those of us who spend a lot of time with guns in our hands have a lot of impact on rules and regs regarding guns. Whenever the "pro gun" crowd speaks up they need to come across as sane and well informed. If they do not, they will lose the battle to a group of folks who know little about how guns work, how they are used, what their capabilities are. And that I find just as dangerous as letting the decisions be made by folks who are in total denial of facts like that an AR15 was the primary weapon in the Sandy Hook shooting.

As a guy who spends 200 nights per year in the woods [average over the last 15 years] I do not want to lose my right to hunt or carry arms. However we coonhunters end up having moments catching our dogs up when they stray, or even when they are on land where we have proper permission and someone confronts us about our activities. I do not like that we live in such a "pro gun" society that folks are thinking that they need to bring a gun out to have a chat with us about where our hounds ended up. It is increasingly scary to go gather up dogs these days. And carrying a hunting gun or a pistol for protection doesn't do much good if an angry landowner comes out with an AR15 with a 100 round magazine and a slide stock that allows that shooter to spray 100 quick rounds my way.

I think actually the coonhunting community is a perfect window into the complexities regarding gun control and gun safety issues. We are one of the few groups of people who have as many run ins with folks who would claim to just be protecting their own safety and security when they pull a gun on us and chase us off their land. If we support a "shoot first and ask questions later" approach then we are quite likely to be the first ones shot....... If we were too pro gun control we could end up losing the right to hunt. Obviously we need to find a happy middle ground.

Digger, you didn't even need to read the whole report. In my post above you can see that the official statement from the Connecticut State Troopers calls it a "Bushmaster .223 caliber-- model XM15-E2S rifle with high capacity 30 round magazine".
And again it is the Connecticut State Trooper that refers to this gun as an assault weapon. Here is that quote:
"Lt. J. Paul Vance, the face of an ongoing Connecticut State Police investigation into worst grade-school shooting in U.S. history, Thursday debunked media and Internet reports that Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza killed his victims with handguns and not the Bushmaster XM-15 E2S rifle that is now the focus of a proposed federal assault-weapons ban.
All 26 of Lanza's victims were shot with the .223-caliber semi-automatic rifle, said Vance, who bristled at claims to the contrary during an interview with Hearst Connecticut Newspapers.
"It's all these conspiracy theorists that are trying to mucky up the waters," said Vance, the longtime state police spokesman."

I will defer to State Police when it comes to how they classify or identify weapons.

I am not saying that my "coin hunting" rights are more important than shooting just for fun or for predator hunting.
Are you afraid of having a grown up conversation on the subject?

I'm tired of libs on a coon hunting message board spewing trash on a daily basis.

U want to have a conversation. Tell us what you propose needs to be done on the issue. Then we can have a discussion

What is your problem? Is your skull so thick you can't comprehend that people with similar interests can have different political views? What kind of bizarre world do you live in where everyone sees it one way and that's it? I like truly, and I'm not afraid to admit I don't agree with everything he says. And I'd imagine you're actually a decent guy and I'd disagree with some of your views too. Why is it ok to tell truly he isn't wanted here and not to "spew his garbage here"? What makes you any authority over what someone can think and post about on a public messageboard? Do you not have any friends with different views? My best friend is a conservative tea party member. We'd probably disagree with 99/100 things, but I'd drop anything I was doing if he needed my help. Why are you always so hostile when you run into someone who doesn't see things the same way as you?

Truly is right that we have a huge uphill battle on our hands and need to be educated. My problem is some of you uphold the same people that want to take the guns away. That absolutely makes zero sense. No sense what so ever. But you keep backing Obama and his idiot puppet Biden.
It only takes one bullet to kill. I want the gun laws to stay as is and enforcing what has been put in place is all that needs to be done. We see with our eyes what the Dems want to take control of and some of us just wont stand for it. The libs just need to wake up.

Let me put it this way. It would be like a 49ers fan going on a ravens message board spewing garbage about how the 49ers are going to do this an do that to the ravens in the Super Bowl. It wouldn't be well received. Same as Obama loving gun controlling libs coming on a coonhunting board preaching their message. It's not wanted here

On the contrary Rance. I listen to wpr,I watch cnn,Iread TD and Bens posts.I need to know what the Libs are thinkin, understanding the enemy is the only way to stay in the war.I don't give conservative cheerleaders like Rush the time of day,But I will keep a close watch on IDJITS like Feinstien,Biden and company. Also folks, consider sayin a little prayer for Nobama tonite,Remember ,we are only one heartbeat away from that Freakin IDGIT biden takin the reins.
