Cherry eye??

Has anyone else had any problems with their dogs or pups getting cherry eye? Was anyone able to get rid of it? If so, how?

I know there is surgery, but I was wondering if there are any other ways.

I have a pup that has it in both eyes, got it when he was about 3/4 months old. Doesn't seem to bother him at all, but does get swollen and red sometimes, and I don't want it making him uncomfortable or anything like that.
