who would like to see 90 minute or 60 minute ukc hunts ???

I am a working man who sometimes has to work saturdays. I sure do like it when it is a 60 minute hunt in the other registery. I really think a 90 minute or 60 minute ukc hunt would be very beneficial to ukc and to the folks attending. Maybe ukc would have some clubs do some trial periods. I know alot of folks who cannot come to a hunt because they have to get up early and go to work, but if they had a 60 or 90 minute hunt it may help some folks who do have to work the next a.m. to get in earlier and they could attend. Im all for a 90 minute hunt myself. I would like your vote.

90 minutes is ok for the children but I sure wouldn't support it for regular events. If I couldn't hunt atleast 2 hours, I would just stay home. But that is just me.

I don't hunt ukc hunt because of it having 2 hr hunts would love to see it less than 2 hrs. That is why I like hunting another register because its shorter.

After you have hunted in enough 1 hour hunts, you quickly see why we have four generations of babblers. If you don't have first strike....you are not going to win.

One hour hunts are a matter of LUCK not dog power. Matter of fact, we are going to have a three hour hunt this year....

Jim I understand but, I was just trying to come up with some ways to up attendance at hunts and when I talk to some hunters one thing they mention is that they cant go because they have to get up and go to work so early and getting in at 3 or 4 a.m. they cannot attend, and believe me the middle class man these days cannot afford to miss work. Thats where family comes first. But, I'm always thinking about things. Just thought I would try to get it on here to see opinions. Thanks !!
Mr. Newlin, I value everyones opinion but luck has alot to do with any hunt being it 60 minutes or 180 minutes. Thanks !!

My closest club is a 90 minute drive one way, I wont drive 3 hours for a 1 hour hunt. Personally i wish they were all 3 hours, better coondog wins more often.

1 hour hunts are nice for during the week if you live close to your local club.
I personally think we should go completely back to 3 hour hunts especially the nite champion casts

Joe, it takes a lot of time, work and effort to be good. Any 15 minute jackass can can get lucky.

Todays generation is all about getting lucky. We will have the 1 hour UKC hunts soon enough, Garmins will be in hand and that is the future.

When the 3 hr hunts left and the non hunting judges of yesteryear the breed has paid the price!!!!! Jmo and I say that as far as good track dogs and good cold noses or the brains to run a colder track and finish it with the grease!!!!!! Back then if you had a grand nite you had something to be proud of !! Pretty soon people will want a gr nt title for just showing up to so many hunts! Any changes to the rules IMO is a slap in the face to the hunters and dogs of yesteryear!!!! Ukc made the rules for a reason and it's already easy enough to put a tilte on a dog so my vote which wasn't posted is no to all

I agree with the 3 hr. stuff and coondogs but, in my country just like alot of other areas, we don't have enuf land to hunt a 4 dog 3 hr. cast anymore. Houses and posted land have dried up alot of that. I just put this poll on here for the fact of how times have changed (with people who have to work long hrs. and have to get up early), and trying to possibly see if it could help attendance at the hunts. The poll was not intended to stir up anything about dogs being coondogs or not. IMO the term "Coondog" is used to loosely. Actually the percentage for actual "Coondogs" in this country is LOW. JMO.

If you had shorter hunts, dogs that titled under that format should have a different title as well. Maybe hotnosed nitechampion! Three hour hunts were grueling, I'm not sure I could last that long or even have enough hunting spots to burn up 180 minutes here in So. MN. I'll say this though, many dogs would start out fast for the first two hours and then go backwards for the last hour. You really had the best dog win almost every time in a 3 hour hunt.

I would have enuf land and could get in at a decent hour with either a 60 minute or 90 minute hunt. So im still up for the 90 minute hunt myself!

I would vote NO to both as well! A 3 hour hunt would def separate a bunch of dogs out from what's out there now...maybe mine included!!! But, in a 3 hour hunt you would find out which dog could hunt an out last (stay out of trouble) the others. Not to mention the dogs with bad conformation (back,stifle,etc..would fall apart if they aren't up to Par. A lot of the speedy fast quick tree dogs would be going to the truck on a leash pretty quickly. The seasoned, methodical cooners would rise to the top. who's to say, then there might be a Bluetick world champion after all. Ha ha

pretty biased poll eh???

id say no as well...maybe 90 mins during the week....maybe...but fri/sat hunts 120+ mins...

why? i am biased...the 3 dogs ive handled always shine as the nite goes on...

usually takes an hour or so to weed out pot lickers too...

2 and a half hours would probably be a nice hunt....i wasnt around for 3 hour hunts but i could see that being pretty tough...i know am pretty beat after 2 hour hunts and traveling home...

one thing id like to see clubs do better is start hunts earlier....a lot here start an hour or so AFTER dark....

one last weekend started a half hour-45mins before dark....by the time casts were drawn and we set out it was prime time...and deadline was midnite which was awesome...

its tough getting home at 3-4-5 in the morning...really would be nice to have earlier deadlines...

If anything make hunts longer . I think Ukc could offer a new "title" like Superior Grnite for a dog that wins 5 three hour hunts , after he's already finished to Grand of course
