Rules ???

What if someone used their IPHONE to snap a pic in a den tree that the hole was to small to get their head in during shining time & coon was seen ??? A buddy wanted me to find out UKC official ruling as this happened in another registrations hunt ???Would this fall under using phone with any reference to score??? I think I know, but wondered if someone done this would they be under the barring offense rules ??? Thanks

I don't think you would be barred for using the phone since you didn't use it to communicate. I suppose you could get scratched on some casts. As for using the phone to score the coon, I know you can't do that as it would fall under the same rule interpretation that bars the use of mirrors to score trees.

Jim

Thanks & I agree 100% although I would like to hear UKCs official ruling from them. A buddy just asked & it made me wonder. I know it works when pleasure hunting if you can't get your head inside to snap a pic & lots of times you can plainly see the coon. On the other hand you can plainly see that a lot of these that dogs just set treed on with no track are slick too. Could also eliminate a lot of circle points that are used from time to time to break ties although we both know that ties aren't broken by circle points very often. Just made me wonder how UKC officially would feel about it if someone came in ??? this & they admit that they saw the coon themselves when someone actually took a pic & showed them & it beat the handler that ??? it. HMMM Thanks

Best to keep your phone in your pocket on a Ukc hunt or go home early one. If its out. It better be an emergency. If you can't use it as a time keeping device. Sure can't use it as a scoring device. Also I've never even thought of taking a pic up in a den tree. I will try it now though.

I have to agree with Jim on this one.

I agree with Jim too. I just wondered what UKC would say if they found out someone did this & showed the cast the coon in the pic & then someone ??? this. I think you definitley would be scratched, but just wondered what would happen if this came up on a UKC cast. Again I agree 100% that you shouldn't, but some handlers will try anything in any registry as you know.

Kind of an interesting question. You can never assume what any individual MOH is gonna do but my guess is that UKC would consider that picture to be "inadmissible evidence". In that it was obtained by an act prohibited by the rules, I doubt you could use it in a question. So my guess is that it would have zero effect on the outcome of any question.

I saw something happen one night. Kinda reminds me of this. Had a weak judge I'll say. Maybe not weak. Just didn't care. Ol dog treed in a broke off den. Guy says. My dog don't miss. Wants to look in hole. Climbs up an looks. Nobody objected. Then another Feller wants to look. He climbs an looks. Says ain't crap in there and wants it minused. LoL. Then the argument broke out. Just a bad situation that got worse by judge not enforcing the rules. Just like this question. So Id scratch em immediately!
