can he still be trained??

i have a 8 month old redbone and i was wondering if hes told old to be trained. i got him when he was 4 months but had a full time job and didnt have time to work with him. i had a couple trapped coons i let him mess around with when he was about 5 months but thats it. i just got laid off so figured id try. was going to get some of that cronk's training scent but didnt know if it would qork. what yall think? and p.s this is my first hound and first time trying to hunt coons

he can still be trained alot of folks wait until their hound is close to a year before fooling with them and still make coon dogs out of them. Good luck with your pup

Just right to start rather then training scent i would try to use live coon just turn the coon loose wait about 5 to 10 minutes and put him on it after a few increase the time and distance from the track after he trees a few start hunting him walk along with him let him go explore when he leaves wait on him to come back and go again just repeat this intill he's hunting to suit you he'll be running and treeing coon before you no it.
The training sent would be ok to let him know what you want

THE best advice I could give you is to get a training book and read it thru there are several out there, one would be John Wick's walk with wick, an all ful lot of good ideas on starting your pup, at 8 months he is not to old, but it's a tuff time of year to start a pup right now.
