I have WICK chaps on a set of Lacrosse boots, the boots are falling apart, I bought a new pair with Dan's 5 Star Chaps at the Grand American last week. The 5 Star seems VERY CLOSE to the WICK. I am hopeful they will hold up.

My WICK chaps are in great shape, I am considering trying to have them sewn and sealed to a new pair of boots????

When WICK announced they were going out of business I purchased a pair of WICK bibs overalls. I have a pair that were still good but i wanted to keep a set on hand. The old pair is now my sons and i just started wearing the new pair last year. They are as good as the chaps were.

I have 2 nearly new pair. One with grange boots and one with Alpha burly. I don't wear them that much but my partner wears the grange ones a good bit.

I know what you mean! I was having quite a bit of anxiety when my Wick froglegs started failing over a year ago. I milked them until late spring 2012. After a lot of research I decided to take a chance on the "Bad'Lands" product (Black legging on Muck boots) I have use them hard this past 6 months and seem to be holding up. They are holding out the briars and water for sure. I paid $125 for them. I did luck out and had a good buddy give me his Wick bibs and Briartown coat he used back when he hunted with me. He hasn't owned a hound now for 15 years and needless to say his girth has grown Heck I am still using my own, so I am set for a very long time. I just hated to see Wick close shop, just a wonderufl bunch off folks, 1.5 hrs from home and great product.

Froglegs

There is no need to sew them to the new boots, just cut them free from the old boots and wear them like chaps, my feet still don't get wet. The pair I am wearing now are well over 20 years old and have worn out about 10 pair of boots, plus I can wear them with the grangers in the summer and switch to the mucks in colder weather. Note; I bought a pair of the "looks just like Wick" froglegs and flat wore them out in about 3 years, now back to using the old Wicks, they are looking pretty rough but are still very comfortable and a lot of life left yet. Good luck & happy hunting!

I still have a pair that i've had for at least 12 years. They are on alpha burleys with the air grip sole. Somehow I haven't managed to punch a hole in them. The chaps themselves are also still in pretty good shape. They started leaking a tiny bit around the seams when standing in deep water but a quick shot of kiwi camp dry to the seams took care of it for now.

I bought a pair of VC pro chaps (supposed to be just like Wick). They are very similar to my Wick chaps with one exception- Only the inner layer of nylon is sewn to the boot. I think one thing that made the wicks so durable (at least for me) was the fact that they were sewn from the outside, through all three layers of material instead of just one layer. I wish I could find someone who did this today.

Overall I am very pleased with my VC chaps and have no regrets. If I had to buy another pair, I would in a heartbeat. I got them mated with the Grubbs boots and LOVE them. They are easily 2-3 lbs lighter than my wicks with the burleys and much more comfortable.

I hate to hear that I talked to Redgy at VC and he said he would fix my chaps to a new pair of boots, I hope he sews them on the same. Which boots do y'all like best for summer and winter? and what do you put on your chaps to waterproof them?

I've been hunting for a few years now and originally bought a pair of muck master boots with a badlands wader and was very pleased. But after buying my grubs boots I would recommend them to anyone over any other boot they blow muck boots out of the water. Their weight is comparable to tennis shoes. They seem to be plenty durable too I've taken them to some pretty rough spots and they seem to be passing the test. I would also look into some bama sokkets they're a boot Liner that wicks moisture away from your feet, they are the real deal! As far as summer and winter these boots should hold up for both with no problem

I have a pair of the ironlegs that is roughly 13 +\- years old. They are currently on their third pair of boots. Not a big deal at all to have them resewn on another pair. I take mine to a shoe repair shop in Lebanon costs me about $30 and buy the tube of sealer they have (better than shoo goo) to reseal the stitching outside as well as inside of boots. Never had a leaking problem other than when boots themselves wear out. Will continue to have them resewn until its no longer possible. And the first two pairs were the lacrosse alpha boots. They are currently on a pair of Drakes and they are very very similar in comfort to mucks. I personally like them a bit better but that's just an opinion.
