Maybe An Allan Question ?

WHEN YOU HAVE A DOG COLLECTED AND STORE THE SEMEN DOES THE OWNERSHIP OF THE SEMEN TRAVEL WITH THE DOG IF HE IS SOLD OR CAN THE OWNER OF THE SEMEN STILL RETAIN THE USEAGE OF IT TO BREED FEMALES ? AND HOW DOES EFFECT THE LITTER REGISTRATION . JUST WONDERING BECAUSE I AM THINKING OF HAVING A DOG COLLECTED .

Gary, the following comes from our DNA Department....

Our current frozen semen policy is: in order to register a litter that is produced using frozen semen, the Sire needs to be DNA profiled with UKC. The owner of the frozen semen would then be able to sign the Litter Registration Application, as long as the question that asks if frozen semen was used is answered yes.

When I called up to Kalamazoo and asked about it, the girl told me that they consider the owner of the semen to be the sire owner for registration purposes.

HMM that sounds right but does not make sense for the performance side of it if the true owner of the dog has him paid up, maby they need to put owner of semen at time of breeding on the form.
