Think about this. What about all the people that are currently on the waiting list to get to hunt that already paid their entries in, but now Joe decides he doesn't want to hunt and sells his entry to Bob and now Henry who was in line and previously paid before deadline might not get to hunt.
I just dont see how that is fair.
If someone wants to sell theirs, why not sell it back to the Grand American, then they can figure up all the wait listed dogs, and then sell whatever entries they have gathered up at the grounds.
Mrs. Clayton,
We guarentee 350 entries per night. Thanks to the dedication of the clubs that make up the Grand American we have enough hunting guides to put over 400 dogs in the woods. We have 364 entries each night this coming event. In the 25 years that I have been involved with the Grand American we have never had to refuse an entry. We have to cut guides every year. Yours is a good point, and if we thought this would prevent someone from getting to hunt it would not be considered.
Requiring pre-entries is to set up a guide base and make administrative prepartions prior to an event. You could not take 300+ entries on the grounds and expect to start drawing out the casts 1- 1 1/2 hours later. At a major event you simply don't have time to sell whatever entries you may have "gathered up".
To us this not a difficult thing, simply helping out a fellow coonhunter. Pre entering an event and missing a "hunt" deadline are two different things. The deadlines that govern the confirmation of the entry as well as the deadline for returning the scorecards to the MOH are always strictly enforced.
At any major event you always have no shows, dogs moving up from one class to the other, dogs being replaced for dogs injured, in season, or deceased etc, etc. If any of this upsets anyone involved with the admin part of a major event then they need to find something else to do
We are coonhunters and we are helping coonhunters. Without the coonhunters there would be no events. We appreciate each and every one who particaipates in our event.
God Bless and Happy New Year!!
