Patriot is not a subsidiary of Consol it was a spinoff of Peabody and more than likely is still owned by Peabody.

Patriot bought out all Peabody jobs in wv , I don't know outside of wv but patriot has always been a deep mining co , and not a strip style operation . It's all politics really , but with EPA , and dep departments sanctioning coal it don't matter what kinda operation being run . My buddy worked at samples mine complex , catenary coal and was laid off two weeks ago when patriot announced this . It's a shame a man works a Lively hood his whole life and only thing he knows and it gets sucked out from under him from the government and they act like they don't care .

your right ole buddy i think the gov wants all the ind that burns coal to go to natural gas then they will let the gas and elitric companys raise thier prices up so high that only the rich will be able to afford to pay thier ulities jmo

I couldn't agree more , I worked for cummins diesel in field service , worked in the mines 12 years and it's a trickle effect I've been laidoff 6 months due to lack of work , jobs shut down and so does the rest of the state .
