Tom Schutz
On Behalf of the Michigan State United Coon Hunters and the American Redbone Coonhound Association condolences to the family of Tom, Tom was a life long redbone man, and the Michigan State United Coon Hunters Association 2011 sportsmen of the year.
Tom Schutz, age 82, of Imlay City, passed away, Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at home surrounded by family. Thomas Peter Schutz was born on October 29, 1930 in North Branch, Michigan. He was the son of Anthony and Anna Schutz. He grew up in North Branch and graduated from North Branch High School class of 1949. Tom married Mary "Peggy" Margaret Heath on November 5, 1949 in St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in North Branch. Tom has been a member of Sacred Heath Catholic Church in Imlay City since 1960. He retired after 25 years from Chrysler Motors Sterling Stamping Plant where he was a skilled trade worker. Tom also worked 10 years at King KelleRing. He was a member of MI State United Coon Hunters Assn. In 2011 he was Sportsman of the year. Tom was also a lifetime NRA member; Michigan Night Hunters Assn. and the National Hunting Dog Federation. Tom is survived by his wife Peggy Schutz of Imlay City. children: Suzanne ( Russell ) Brown of Clio, Margaret ( Chris ) Colley of Lapeer, Phoebe Schutz of Lake Orion, Dianne ( Jim ) Carpinelli of Savannah, GA, Jeff ( Michelle ) Schutz of Attica, Patty ( Matt ) Jackson of Lapeer, John ( Susan ) Schutz of Imlay City, Cressy ( Barry ) Cook of Osteen, FL, and Tommy ( Kelly ) Schutz of Imlay City. grandchildren: Quin, Annette, Amy, Russ, Jill, Jeanette, Carolyn, Julie, J.T., Joey, Jamie, Keith, David, Gerald, Anthony, Kaitlin, Brandon, Connie, John and Sandy. 25 great-grandchildren. siblings: Sister Jane Edward Schutz, Anna Wagner, Beatrice Glasgow and Gerald Schutz. Tom is preceded in death by his parents: Anthony and Anna Schutz, and infant daughter: Carolyn, infant son: David and 9 brothers and sisters. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Imlay City. Father Paul Ward will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in North Branch. Friends may call at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 Main Street, Imlay City, MI where the family will be available for visiting : 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2012 and 1 - 4 & 5 - 8 p.m. Friday.
