I have used them for years and years and my dogs do fine in them. The key is to put plenty of straw in them and face them south.

I have had it to where a dog could choose betwen a plastic barrel dog house and a store bought dog house and they took the barrel every time.

K-9Kondo.com I bought it as a Kit it has the door a vent for the rear of the barrel. A stand and a bracket for a deck for dog to lay on. I didn't put the deck on will do in sprinng when I get some wire to put over kennel.

Put a thermometer in there while your dog is in there and see how warm it really is. A dogs body can keep a smaller area pretty warm.
