Bench question

I have seen on some benches a strip of wood at the front where the dogs front feet are placed, what size of wood would I need to add this to my bench and what is the purpose, does it help get the dog up on his feet?

thanks

Its a practice aid. It does help a dog with already good feet keep a tight foot. It may even be helpful for a weaker footed dog to have a slightly better foot if used consistently. But it won't make a flat footed dog ever have great feet. it will give support and so the foot never goes flat during practice sessions. I use a piece of old door trim. I'm bad with measurements but basically u just want enough elevation so that the back pad is on the trim but dogs toes are on bench surface. Nailing it to your bench is optional. Some people do that or you can lay it on there to practice then take it off. Hope this helps!
