How water proof is the garmin?

Been raining a lot and I have been falling a lot and that hand held is bound to go flying. How water proof is the astro handheld and the collars? Thanks.

Hunted in the rain plenty nights with my Astro. I don't remember ever dropping it in water and completely submerging it underwater but I used it in heavy rain with no problems.

Collars are completely waterproof IMO. Had a buddy's dog get sprayed by a skunk wearing one of my collars and I soaked it in water for days and days getting the smell out.

Unless they have changed the dc 30 collars are not completely waterproof meaning they can't be completely submerged under water for a certain period of time. Kinda like a watch there is a difference between rainproof, water resistence and waterproof..I dont think I would want to drop my handheld in a lake. JMHO

Like I said above I literally let mine soak in a bucket of water for several days and never had a problem. They were the original DC-30's bought within a couple months of being released as well.

I'm not saying it will not work if wet, I know I read about how waterproof they are somewhere in the garmin manual. thats all. The part on the collar that concerns me is where the wire makes the connection and all the junk that gets lodged there.

I and many of my friends have had trouble with the regular energizer batteries ruining electronic equipment when the batteries were left in for a extended period of time. I bought the rechargable energizer because I couldn't find Duracell rechargables.
