Getting a hound stuffed?

Has anyone ever thought about getting a great one mounted and treed in your living room? Just wonder if any taxidermist could do this

Just don't sound right to me. That would be way too spooky.

I remember Dale Evans said that she hope Roy would die before her, because she didn't want Roy to have her stuffed and stand beside Trigger. lol

I am a taxidermist and yes it can be done and has been done. They have a form for a coondog but it is not treeing. I myself do not do pets and it seems more and more every year I get more calls about it. If you really want to do it I would do your research on it and find a good taxidermist, and when I say a good one I mean one that knows what he is doing. Some may freeze dry them while others will do it the the traditional way. And ask for pics of work they have done before. And be prepared to pay upwards of 2000.00 more likely more than that. I had a guy ask me to do his Rottweiler way back along time ago before this got so big and I thought I would try it but when he heard the price I told which was around 3000.00 he decided against it real fast. Then I came to my senses and told myself I would never do a pet.

A buddy of mine just had his 17 year old dog pass on. He had it freeze dried. Cost $1000. He was really attached to that old dog...There was a coonhunter from Nebraska that had 3 of his best blueticks mounted treeing on a tree in his game room. I remember seeing the pics in the bboa book. Looked pretty cool. My experience with taxidermy is you get what you pay for. If you find a good one it will probably look nice, but there is a real trick to getting a lifelike appearance out of a domestic dog with the faces and such as they have "personality" that can be hard to replicate.

Wilson's Taxidermy in Monterey, TN. They do it all from squirrels to full body elk and bison. Pretty sure Nathan has done a dog or 2. If you have ever been to a Bass Pro or Cabelas store you have seen some of their work. (931-839-3230)

I seen a beagle stuffed once at an antique store. Some old fella dabbled in taxidermy and thought pretty highly of his dog. It was about the ugliest thing I've ever seen.

Clyde, that show is pretty good...but the whole pet preservation thing does upset me a little. Some of his work on dogs and cats does look pretty "real" but I couldn't do that to my dog. I think it would make me even more sad seeing him every day, and knowing what's left is just a shell.
