Help with a jumping dog...

I have a 10 month old female walker. She has a good mouth but when treed she would rather jump/try to climb instead of bark. Don't get me wrong she will tree and has a pretty nice triple bark. I have tried to correct her some but don't want to take any tree out of her. Any suggestions and how to stop this with out being to rough?

okay, besides beating her for being on a tree...>>>??????
skeet used to do that alot when young and worked up. he grew out of it. he is only 2.
by the way, worst advice i ever heard was beating a dog treeing a coon.

tie

Tie her up with a short leash as soon as you can so she can't jump.. sounds like she really wants to get at her game

I have a female that does that . When she sees my light coming she starts jumping . In a hunt we have to stop the two minutes gets her . We can see her she just jumps till we get far away then repeats till im bad in the hole or minused out completely . I may try the hanging weight thing hopefully she wont get tangled up . She has just stopped barking and jumping where I have to use a garmin on her to find her shes exhausted from jumping but still at it lol . Course its not funny at the time as shes nearly taken the old dirt nap a time or two . She can absolutely tree a truck full of coons . Im sure there is a tritronics solution for this some kinda way

She is too young to try and fix this any other way but putting coons in her mouth. When she is older you can try the weight thing, It works. A dog with a brain will figure out they are only gettin hit when they jump. She is just too young to understand right now. I have used a lock like this, made my female twice the tree dog. Never caused her to not want to tree.

DOES SHE DO THIS AT HOME IN THE PEN OR ON THE CHAIN, IF SO, THAT MIGHT BE A GOOD TIME TO 'CORRECT' HER, INSTEAD OF AT THE TREE!!!

Your in for lots of dog fights if she don't stop or you break her. Unless you hunt alone all the time. One that does it bad. You will not break them.

I have a six year old female that only ever jumps at the tree when I show up, and I have just learned to ignore it. She usually has the coon and tracks and trees like a pro. I once worried about trying to fix it, but I got the same advice from several very knowledgeable folks, and the advice I got is it isn't easy to fix and why think of an excuse to get pissed at a hound that did its job at the tree. Someone made reference to dog fights, and if you aren't hunting with tree fighters then there is nothing to worry about. I have heard others say the same thing, and to me it translates into "I have a dog that is mean on the tree and your dog is going to aggrivate it into a fight." If hounds can ride on dog boxes for miles together on dog box, or on a rig together without fighting then why would they when they are on a tree? JMO

oh just cause they jump doesnt start dog fights , my dog jumps and never had a dog fight. how does putting a lock on them help, seems like that would beat the **** out of them running a track , that seems like a real stupid idea.

the idea is for the dog to break itself without you have a hand in it at the tree !!!!! but you break your with an e-collar and I'll break mine!!!!!!!

About like hunters of jumpers and facebarkers crying about how their dogs are perfect little angels once they get those scratches on em.
