What is UKC's offical stance on Breed Standards in Bench Shows? Do we as Bench Show Judges just not consider a dog for placement if he or she does not meet there breed standard on height, color, bite??? Or dog we disqualify the dog and turn the dogs name, it's UKC #, and all the info into you or what? I would like to know the correct thing to do.... Because alot of dogs out there today do not meet the breed standard for there respected breed... Something is going to have to be done about this as these dogs are breeding and there pups are going to have the same disqualifying faults as there sires and dams?????

are clearly stated in the UKC Coonhound Rulebook
Disqualifications are listed
Faults are listed
It's up to the BSJ to KNOW the rules and to be able to distinguish disqualifications from FAULTS.
There is no such thing as a PERFECT dog. Judge the WHOLE dog by evaluating the GOOD points and OVERALL BALANCE as that dog is presented using BREED STANDARDS.
If there is a DISQUALIFYING FAULT - then DQ that dog & make a note for UKC.
If the dog does not represent the breed standard well, just withhold a placement.
Too many judges "fault judge" and fail to see the overall dog.
Do you consider & understand: correct color & markings; arch over the loin versus a roached back; depth through heart for lung capacity; prosternum development; ratio of body length to height; ratio of leg to body; shoulder & rear angulation; muscle development from side & rear view; each breed's requirement for feet, head, earage;height; correct gait; all of the other factors that make a good breed example?
