Sheep , I gotta ask..........

When your female trees a possum , do you count that " for " or " against " her accuracy percentage ?

That won't work for all dogs, some nothing will work, those type dont need to be bred. l

Sorry Sheep old buddy , didn't mean to ruffle your feathers. LOL

Yes I did ! LOL

It's just that , in my opinion , if a dog trees a possum , it's just as wrong as slick treein'. Wrong is wrong. ( just like my pup gettin' sprayed by a skunk the other night )

And if you don't agree with my opinion , then you must be one of Elvis' cronies that bow to every word he says. LOL

I would MUCH RATHER my dog tree a possom than slick tree. To me, a possom means the dog chose the wrong game and decided to do something that doesn't please its owner. A simple mistake and bad choice, thats it. However, a SLICK TREE, displays a lack of TALENT, SKILL, BRAINS, NOSE, AND NATURAL ABILITY. Now, these are just my opinions and usually I am on my own, but anyway there ya go.

SHEEP,

I think the UKC RULES will tell which of these two, SLICK TREE VS. TREEING A POSSOM, is the WORST THING A DOG CAN DO. UKC RULES for NT.CH. & GR.NT.CH. CASTS say: that a dog/dogs that SLICK TREE will be MINUSED. Dog/ dogs that tree a POSSOM WILL BE SCRATCHED. Both are BAD, BUT ONE IS WORSE THAN THE OTHER.

A DOG THAT TREE'S A POSSOM IS A POSSOM DOG, NOT A COON DOG.

"DANDY DON MERIDETH", used to sing a song on MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, for teams that were getting the HELL BEAT OUT OF THEM, & POSSOM TREEING DOGS, it went something like this: TURN OUT THE LIGHTS, THE PARTY'S OVER. CALL IT A NIGHT etc. etc.

YOUR FRIEND FOREVER.

I dont mind a young dog trashing, but the correction is going to get worse and worse. If the dog doesnt want to be straight I consider it a fault just like bad slick treeing.

These are the thing a dog must have to be bred a my house.

naturally straight, very little if any correction needed to keep them that way.

good loud mouth, better than average. not hard to listen to. Open on track

Accurate, if I walk to bush after bush I know his isnt what I'm breeding for.

Independent enough to do there own thing if other dogs arent doing anything.

dogs like this are hard to find and expensive if you buy one finished.

sheep i will tell ya

a possum is twice as good as a empty tree....maybe your neckl of the woods doesnt have very many coons. try hunting a little differrent areas. scold her when she trees a possum and praise the hell out of her when she trees a coon ...hopefully after some time the coons will come more frequently....later......ps if they are treein anything its better than a deer race i know from experience lol.....

I would rather walk to a tree where they came up short on treeing a coon than to walk a mile and see they treed a oppossum. But i hate both. JMO. Trott.

I guess the way I look at is this. I'd rather have a dog that looks like a "naughty" dog, than a dog that looks like a "stupid" dog.

havent saw a perfect dog yet. One dog in particular comes to mind that the owner flat out told me in a very, very, very, stern and loud voice one night......... MY DOG DOES NOT TREE POSSOMS, HOUSECATS, BOBCATS, FOXES, OR RUN ANYTHING BESIDES A COON!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF MY DOG OPENS ITS MOUTH THAN ITS A COON OR HE WOULDNT BARK AT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When he got thru ranting and raveing about how perfect his dog is I just thought to myself.............. "man this dog must be perfect or something". That was one of the first nights I went with the guy, after that I kept hunting with him. Let me tell ya I FOUND OUT JUST HOW PERFECT HE WAS. So perfect he had to shock him for something ALLLLLLLLLLLL the time. About half the time the dog treed we could not find ANYTHING, and thats with the leaves off. I also watched him tree 2 possoms one night. I also listened to him boogar bark and never tree on a track one time. He shocked him to make him stop treeing, shocked him to make him tree, shocked him to make him go hunting, shocked him to make him come back..........................

Three Kinds of dogs.

There are three kinds of dogs. Pups, Started dogs, And finished dogs. They all hit a bump in the road here and there and run off game. If you say you have a dog that didnt you must of been blessed. But if they keep on hitting these bumps it may be time to switch roads and get a real dog.

Your right they all make mistakes, the number of mistakes is the difference.

I'll tell you the truth, I got one in the back thats nine years old that will trash, she couldnt be 100% broke. She will tree coon after coon by herself, but is a trashy me too dog in company, our family got to attached to her so I've kept her. But I would never, never breed her.

If your dog suits you more power to you but if someones slick treeing idiot suits them why down what they want to hunt?

well, mine is 7 years old and likely to ................... run deer, red fox, grey fox, coyote, bobcat, tree housecats, possoms, rats, weasels, armadillos, skunks, squirrells, fly squirrells, mess with beavers, cows, goats, horses. Likely to not go hunting at all, run a circle around you barking at the moon, crawl under the truck and go to sleep, drink out of the toilet, and eat its own &^%$. Oh yes, and just might tree a coon also.......maybe. And I walk hunt my dogs also.
