A question for hide hunters??

I was just curious to all of you whose kill season is now open. ARE THE HIDES WORTH SAVING RIGHT NOW? I am going out for the first time tonight for Wisconsins kill season and didn't know if they were prime yet or not. We have not had much cool weather here yet, and/or a frost that really killed, so are the hides any good. My dogs caught and killed a smaller coon in illinois last friday and I don't think that hide was worth the coon wearing it, but season isn't open there so i obviosly left it. Give me opinion and personal expertice. Thanks to all that respond.

They will not be ready until at least the first of November.

Same as Dave from Ohio

Our season opens last of October up here in NY....

I have two friends that are hide buyers both say the prices will be lower than last year as the warehoses are pretty well stocked and external costs have gone up.

I try not to kill too many early on as the fur is best around Thanksgiving time....I still like to handle fur and get a thrill trying to tree an old heavy coon......of course there is no money it it I still like to fuss with hides and see what other hunters and trappers bring to the furriers...always will! Good luck everyone and keep safe!
