Are you going to bring your walker to the hunt or do you just want to know so you can talk about the breed some more on this forum.......

Shannon: I NEVER said one word about black dogs on THIS forum. Never started crying yet either. I dont think you won enough to place in the top 40 in our state this year yet. It would only take around $50.00. Our club is holding a prohunt on April 30-May 1, 2003. Thats why i was wondering the date, IF thats o.k. with you. Maybe next time i will call you and ask permission to reply on here. OOps , the date is 2004, not 2003.

As a matter of fact Merlin I have won close to what you have won this year with a black dog..... Out of your old stuff...... And I hunt UKC also not just PKC......and I am not in the top 24 of my state. A cast win at a decent added hunt will get you in the top 24 of Iowa. B&T days is going to be at Flora IL this year I believe and I think it will be the same weekend as your pro hunt.
Didnt mean to make you mad. Just figured you were going to stir up some **** like you do on the prohound board.....

a bunch of slick treeing idiots that win with nothing other than circle points. i know there are some dang good dogs that hunt pkc, but im staying away from the local pkc hunts when the leaves are still on the trees, all you need is a babbling dog tht will lsick tree real quick and you can clean up.

again, not saying my dog is great, just saying you can win alot in pkc with a slick treeing dog in the summertime. what do you do in a short hunt in very thin coon when your dog honors another dog, the dog is slicked treed, you dog then goes does his own thing, and by that time the tree closes and they have a bunch of circle points.

Rance, your argument is plenty thin. If you lost because your dog was covering dogs treeing emptys, them your dog was treeing empty too. No matter how you try to cover it up, the simple fact remains, all your dog had to do to win was get gone and tree one lousy coon. If he can't do that then he don't deserve to win.

Jim, I ain't got a dog in this hunt but from re reading his post I think he meant to put in a "won't" before the honor because later he talked about the dog going and doing his own thing but the CW had a bunch of circle. I think he just left a word out.

Trust me rance, I know what you point is. I was just giving you the obvious argument. Bottom line, you should never complain about getting beat by circle points, because you've got the same opportunity as the other dogs to get plus. If your dog couldn't get it done, why expect the other dogs?

Wait till you get beat by 3 dogs that all they did in an hour was tree in a hole in the ground, and tree a possum, then you'll know you've been in one...

could not agree with you more, but just feel neither does a dog that all he does is slick tree right off the bat. there are some dogs out there that have way too much tree bred in them and they imo can do pretty well in summertime pkc hunts. we dont have alot of coons in my part of the country, in a 2 hour hunt, lots of times a first strike first tree will win you the hunt alone, so you are really behind the 8 ball with one of these dogs in an hour hunt. especially if the guide gets some quick circle points and goes to a pine thicket for the final drop. this fella i hunted with the other weekend was bragging on how well his dog was doing in pkc. at thsi particular hunt he had 500 circle points and like 175 plus points. thats way too many trees in the area we were hunting. a good amount if not all of those circle points were slick trees.

never did i think my dog should have won my pkc cast, just felt niether shoud the other dog and the owner knew this dog wasnt accurate at all, but knew he would get out and bark up a tree pretty quick and stood a decent chance of winning without honestly treeing a coon. in my post i made sure to point i believed there were really great dogs in pkc and its pbvious there are. there is no sour grapes over losing just pointing out a fact about their scoring system, heck you can win wiht minus points. for me its not about just winning, its about how the winning was done. the dog i was hunting is a older dog im going to use as a pup trainer. i just want to get experience in hunts for when i do have some legit dog power, which i will. ive only been coon hunting a few months but im taking steps to somewhere in the hopefully not too distant future have me a top dog(s). instead of buying three young females and a pup trainer and all the accesories that goes along with that many dogs, i could have went out and bought me one $2500 dog, but hat isnt the route i wanted to go. good luck to ya all and no hard feelings

Rance, I understand where you're coming from. I think you realize that PKC's system is set up to produce a winner, regardless of the dog work. Like all systems, people will learn to work it to their own benefit.

I agree with you, I'm more interested in HOW a dog wins as WHAT he wins.

The right kind of coondog will win his share in PKC, UKC, and show a fellow coons any night he cares to go. Maybe someday I'll have a dog like that, lol.
