First Hunt...loved it

Went to Yale,Ohio this morning to check out what you guys are talking about and got a great intro.Drew out with good guys for handlers and all 4 dogs were very impressive.Couple of situations came up that were interesting to score, quickly found out my best is gonna have to get in shape and get better. My 2 year old male did not embaress himself and on the drive home I went thru all the whatiffs for how close he could have actually won.Even though he came in fourth it felt good.High score was 910 and he was 720 and all the other handlers said it was one of the better casts they have ever run in.I could have had one of those casts that I hear about with all the negatives and never came back but I will be back!So to Carl,Dave, and Steve...if we draw out again ole Red will be in shape and bringing the heat!

Bob

Hey Bob sounds like your hooked.......Good people and great dog work will do it to ya for sure...... The Yale club is realy making a effort in the right direction. I too had a very good time at Yale and the final four was a blast even though I got my clock cleaned.
Very good club......Great judges...... and plenty of rabibits. Good luck with your dog and study those rules.

Bob, I don't know if we have met so let me introduce myself. I live in Mechanicstown, ohio. Have running spots around Alliance, Oh. Am running White River Beau of Touchstone. Also running a couple of young dogs. Give me a call if you want to run dogs. Will introduce you to some other UKC trialers in our area. We can take a score sheet and help with the rules. Will be going to the qualifier for the world hunt that is in WV this weekend. If you want to ride down call me. The World Hunt is in Millersburg, Oh the first of OCT. Must win a cast at a qualifier to enter this grand event.RSVP soon. Dan Mazalic

I also had my "first" hunt weekend before last. I usually go out as a spectator. But hubby was sick and I took his female to a hunt on Saturday my first time handling. I had a blast it was raining and cold, but that didn't keep me from having a good time My cast was great and so was my judge. I didn't feel intimadated, being my first time and my judge explained things for me. My husband's dog came in 2nd in her cast. The next day I took her to WQE (husband still sick ) Was drawn into another great cast. My husbands' dog won her cast and now is qualified for the World Hunt. When I came home my husband was surprised, he said "maybe she is your dog now." LOL
Thanks to everyone who made me feel welcomed, I think we will be running 2 dogs from now on. My husband with ??? and me with "my dog"
