Re-cast question?

4 dog cast. All struck in on a creek.Dog #4 is the "hunting judges" dog.Dogs 1 and 2 tree.Dogs 3 and 4 continue opening on the water about 50 yards away.5 minutes expire and we walk in and handle dogs 1 and 2.Coon IS seen.Dog 3 comes in after the fact and is minused and caught/handled.Dog 4 is still opening once in awhile about 50 yards away on the water. We lead off the tree about 20 yards and the hunting judge says "recast em"! Back into dog 4 that never came in and treed. But never moved a track on either.Right? Wrong? Indifferent?

P.S. Yes, dogs 1,2 and 3 opened enough to get struck in.We never treed that coon but did draw some minus for dogs coming back into us. I "do" believe it was the back end of the same track from the coon we had already treed.

Once the tree was scored the judge should have started the 8 on the other dog and as soon as it opened the other dogs must be recast.

Who Knows

The other three should have gotten out of there and went and treed a coon. If he was just working track and never got treed he can't win anyway. After one hour strike points would have opened back up. Refer to dog not working as part of cast.

In ur scenario the judge did rite.
Rule 11............
"After five minutes, first dog’s tree may be checked and that dog kept on leash until tree is scored, then he must be turned loose with other dogs that are opening on trail and will receive 25 points credit or discredit as deserved, or next available position. However, if dog(s) are already treed, handlers have the option to release dog(s) so long as at least one dog is still out trailing. "...........
Ur option did not xist in this case,IF 4 had got treed ur leashed locked!
