Rule Questions

#1 Does a handler have to be at the tree to vote? Can a handler that does not go to the tree demand a vote, or can the judge demand they vote?
#2 can a judge refuse a handler to go to his dog (Separate tree and treed as first tree is being searched?(During shine time).
#3 Rule says, no further discussion after ? placed on card until card is presented to MOH. Scratch handler if they say anything else on question ?
#4 If you have a 4 dog cast, and you have a split tree 2 dogs on one tree and 2 dogs on another tree quite a ways apart. Two people go to one tree and two people go to the other. Can either tree be plussed with only 2 people or are both trees circled?

The reason I posted this is because I have recieved calls on these questions a day or two after a hunt. When I ask "why didn't you question it on the card at the time" I get "I really don't want to cause trouble"

#1-Yes, a handler can vote even if they didn't witness the situation and in fact, they are required to vote or be scratched. Technically, all cast members are suppose to be at the tree when it is scored.

#2- No. The rule says judge SHALL give permission to go and handle a dog on a split tree when the tree is closed. "SHALL" is the key word.

#3- I would warn one time (and I am not much for warnings in UKC but this is one situation where I would) then if it happens a second time, scratch. That's just me. I believe you could scratch without warning.

#4-Absolutely not. It takes a majority to plus or minus a tree. 2 is not a majority of 4. If you had a 3 dog cast, then the answer would be yes.
