By a 30 pound female Walker! She is full of energy and I had to clip her toenails. She is a very small critter and I thought it was gunna be easy because she has white toenails and I can see the quick real good. No problem! Yeah right. I have never had to wrestle a dog that small and that fast. She ripped my pants and I had a good roll in the dirt! I was wore out after. Honestly I think she knew what she was doing because when I got done she sat still and licked all over me! I thought I would hate that dog when I got her but she will tree her own coon and after yesterday I realized how funny she was lol.

I would hunt that sucker til it didn't have any nails left just to avoid having to cut them.

we had a gyp that would bite you when trimming her nails ...the vat gave us a tranquellizing (SP) for $2 problem solved

get a old sweat shirt cut 4 holes for the legs stick them in tie the
sleeves around a tree limb and go to work.

I start mine almost as soon as they're weened and, I grind them with a dremmel. I think once they get over the noise and vibration and realize you're not trying to grind their feet off they calm down but, it does take time.

For an older dog, I'd do maybe one or two nails a day. Like all training be consistent and patient - quit if you start to get mad.

I've shown dogs for many years and I wouldn't do nails any other way.

In the beginning it's a good idea to have some quick-stop handy (fresh - if it's older than 6 months old it's worthless) or, for a normal "nick" a pinch of flour will usually do.
