I've also used a mixture of honey & lemon several times/day and had to put a bark collar on to prevent from barking.

What you are trying to accomplish is to reduce the inflammation of the vocal cords. This is what the steroids do. Dexamethasone is a common steroid the vet may give you. The quicker you start the steroids the better off you are as it allows the vocal cords to heal and prevents any further damage. Not sure about the other stuff...

cod fish oil pills 2 in mor and 2 at night for 3 to 7 days depends on the dog dont want to make them have loose stool then back it off to 1 in mor and 1 at night for about 1 week and this will help greatly at least thats what works for me it seems to work well on younger dogs but i've used it on some older dogs and had good outcome but biggest thing is to keep them from barking at all during treatment and keep cold fresh water in front of them i've even put a tray of ice in there dish every afternoon or night dont really know if that help but if i get a sore throat cold drinks feel good lol u can get them at walmart for like 5 bucks or so a bottle some old timer got me on it and i treat all my dogs no matter the age 2 weeks before i start really pounding them (like 30 straight nights in the timber) some people mite not think it works but i've had good outcomes best of luck
