Depends on which state you are in. I heard in Wis they are big on the three "s's". shoot'em, shovel'em under, shutup.

If you noticed it before you started your hunt, I'd suggest to remind the handler of Rule 20. Otherwise, it would fall under the "implied scratch". Can't do it! Using one other than as described in Rule 20 will result in a much bigger fish.

What if his dog doesn't have a shock collar on and he just forgot that he had the transmitter on his belt? Do you still scratch him?

so are they scratched if you notice it after the hunt starts?
I'm looking for the offical way to handle the situation.

and what do you do if they are using it other than what rule 20 says?

we have someone in our area that is abusing the rule and tonight might be his night.

Rule 20 is pretty well put if they are carrying a transmitter during hunt time they are scratched. If the master hounds won't up hold the ruling then file a formal complaint. Because he must need educated.

David, I'd suggest trying a little honey first and let him know what the consequences are opposed to "setting" him up to fall. And I don't care who it is. Guess I don't get the "setting up" and "eliminate" tactics. Other than they comprise one's integrity.

GOOD ANSWER Allen We should try to avoid conflict not try to exploit it. we all will have a much better time looking to the good side rather than negetive.

Would make a difference to me wheather the guy just screwed up and didnt realize he had it with him. But if i caught him with the antenna sticking out of hs pocket and figured he had plans for it, he'd be headed for the truck.

James, you wait until the cast is about over and if he is not winning then you politely remind him of the rule and "suggest" that he not do it again. But if he is winning, then you scratch him.

I may be reading this wrong but it appears he is saying somebody is intentionally sneaking and using a shock collar during hunt time.

That's a little different than accidentally having it with you or not knowing the rules.

Agreed. One can't win that much with a red dog and not be doing something. Kind of like Chad Knaus in NASCAR. lol

Just food for thought, but if you know he is using it to stop the dog from fighting, why not ask him if he is carrying his transmitter before cast starts, then scratch dog for fighting. I believe this wouuld have a better outcome, but then again, sometimes people would rather be shady.

LOL's , tell him you'll carry it for him so he won't get in trouble. Then if his dog is fighting when the cast arrives and is scratched go ahead and hold the button down for him.

Be sure not to have a shock collar on your dog.
