Chop mouth track dogs

How do u guys and gals feel about chop mouth track dogs? If a stud is consistently throwing chop mouth dogs do u think they should stop breeding them? I know I don't like a chop mouth both ways just wanting to hear other peoples thoughts.

I don't like it. Some folks don't mind it. It's none of my business what somebody else does but I'm not going to breed for it.

I really, really dislike a chop mouth track dog. I do not think that it should be considered a fault or anything like that but it is definately something I would take into consideration when choosing a stud.

Mine will run her mouth like a ducks a$$ on track. She sounds like a house so its easy to tell her from other dogs but not much change over on tree other then she will start to chop ever breath. I don't mind it but she makes a lot of noise for nothing some times.

The dog i have now is a steady hard chop on the trail. If you were to hunt with her you would say shes got a loose mouth or babbling. But thats just how she is she has a little change over to a hard chop with a little squell in her tree but she usually drowns everything out in the woods. She has a locate but 90% the time she fails to use it on a hot track.

Most every chop-mouthed track dog I've ever heard always made the track sound better than it actually was.

i dont mind it. my old english dog is impossible to tell how the track is cuz some nights he uses chop all the way some nights he bawls the whole way and other nights he mixes it up and my little walker female is chop all the time and has no change over at all. i just like listening to them. it dont matter how they sound as long as they make some noise

I've seen a chop mouth track dog switch to a 5 second locate, and then roll over to a 60 bark per minute chop. Most chop mouth track dogs I've seen don't have much of a locate.

Its a little aggravating to me but I have one now. She chops more on track than tree. Sounds fast as greased lightening! Im hoping she calms down some. She's only 11 months. As long as she will put em up. I'll keep taking her. I sure do wish she had some kind of bawl. I know she can. I've heard her do it at sirens lol.

I dont mind them if they are not that mouthy and have a good locate but most that I have hunted with didnt shut up from the time you cut em loose till you got em off the tree.

I've got a female that chops all the way throws a big locate into a slower a slower chop on the tree and will set flat on her but and lay her head back between her shoulderblades. I love it.

I know what I like, and I would never pretend that i should tell someone what they should like ... don't we call those liberals.

That aside, I do not have enough ear to hunt a complete chop mouth tree dog. I just can't tell when they are treed. Some of the areas I hunt can turn into a nightmare if I am following a dog around all night thinking they are treed.

I thought thats what the garmins are for Larry an alarm goes off and says their treed just like a video game LOL As for the chop mouth my fred dog is chop all the way and double chops when he starts to tree it. For simple pleasure hunting give me a deep roaring bawl on track and some "make the hair stand up on the back of your neck" locate bawls to a nice rolling chop on the tree and I am a happy camper. As far as studs putting it in pups I just dont care.

Chop mouth

I love a good Clear Chop on track, not mouthy though, id prefer a sqaul or short bawl on a cold trail but chop is ok if they dont do it to many times in one spot. if the track is Hot, he can bark every time his foot hits the ground, i dont mind. the thing is i want to be able to tell what hes doing on Both ends of the trail. when its all said and done. as far as hear goes, if his chop is good and clear i can her him a very long ways even with company if his voice is destinctive enough......

I have a chop mouth track dog that throws a hellacious locate, sounds like she's killing something, and then trees about 130 a minute. And she is pretty mouthy on a hot track and with other dogs. But by herself she is almost 100% silent.

I don't necessarily like it, but not a huge pet peeve either. She opens with 3 chops, about every 75-200 yards, nice locate and triple chops on tree. Not super hard, but enough to call pretty easy.
