my last resolution going out tonight
Night hunting of raccoon
Currently night hunting of raccoon is prohibited during the Traditional 9 day gun deer season.
Currently night hunting of Raccoon is allowed during all other gun deer seasons including the metro zone, cwd zone, youth deer hunts and muzzle loader seasons.
Night hunting of raccoons have not caused enforcement problems, or user conflicts during these other gun deer seasons.
All other small game hunting is allowed during the traditional gun deer season.
The traditional gun deer season falls during the peak time of raccoon hunting.
A change in the rules to allow night hunting of raccoon through the gun deer season has been rejected for years, with the few coon hunters in the State there is little chance for this rule change,
The coon hunters have tried to get acceptance of a rule change by any number of restrictions.
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Conservation Congress at its annual meeting held in Washington County on April 9, 2012 recommends that the Conservation Congress work with the Department of Natural Resources to take needed action to eliminate any gun deer season during the season for hunting Raccoon.
