"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your bronther's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." -The words of Jesus Christ from Luke 6:41-42
A hypocrite is NOT someone who goes to church, tries to follow God's leading, and fails at it in some way every day as many church goers do. No one is perfect and this is what many "unchurched" people love to jump all over, point the finger, and then yell, "HYPOCRITE!". A hypocrite is someone who ignores their own sin, but is quick to go around trying to straighten out everyone else's. And, yes, there are those types in the church and many of those types outside the church.
The point is, if we would focus on allowing God to transform our lives, point out our sin, and let Him clean us up, then we would have less time to be a bunch of busybodies going around gossiping about others and trying to put them in their place.
As far as the "church in the woods" idea, here are my thoughts on that. Church ain't a building, church ain't even a certain group of people. THE church is the combination of ALL believers from all over the world working to advance God's kingdom here on earth.
Going to the woods to meet with God is awesome! Jesus often went away to a place of solitude to be alone with the Father and we should follow His example. However, being alone with God in the woods is not advancing His kingdom on earth and , therefore, to me is NOT church. Yes we need those alone times, but you ain't working as part of the church to reach people for Christ if you spend all your time alone in the woods and then as soon as you step out of the woods you leave Him there.
Wow, I wasn't intending to write that much, don't usually go that long on my comments and not sure how we got this deep into this subject from where this thread started, but thanks for allowing me the chance to open up.
