Qustion about UKC "NEWS RELEASE"

Just read the news release that ukc posted and was wondering if ukc is going to make the new breed standards or is the breed association still going to set them?

I don't think it even affects coonhounds does it? We are not experiencing the same problems as the other breeds which is the main concern.

But to shed some light on how standards are changed....UKC works closely with the coonhound breed associations as far as changes go. But the breed associations do not control the breed standards; UKC does. Still, I can't remember a situation in the past where UKC and the Coonhound Breed Associations differed on a change.

The change is interesting and it's a huge step for a Registry to take towards the health and well being of dogs. It looks as though it is being well received as it should be.

I would assume this has a lot to do with the apbt and like breeds where breeders are going in all diff. directions with their dogs and they wind up nothing like the standard
exp. I have a UKC reg pit his sire is the biggest registered pitbull in the world that we know of weighing in at 170 My dog weighs in at around 140 breed standard says avg 50-60 lbs lol Most ppl would argue my dog isnt a pit at all lol I dont care to argue about it I like him and he is what he is
