? on gas prices

I did a little research today on gas vs. oil prices. In 2008 when oil reached the $130 per barrel range, gas averaged $3.83 per gallon. Today oil is $106 per barrel range and gas is $3.89 per gallon average. Can anyone explain that one for me?

IT'S CALLED, ANY INCREASE IN THE COST OF DOING BUSINESS, (SUPPLY AND DEMAND, REGULATION, WORLD MARKETS, ETC.) GETS PASSED ON TO THE CONSUMER FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAINTAINING PROFIT MARGINS, OF WHICH THE OIL INDUSTRY RANKS 115TH OUT OF THE TOP 200!!! A WEAK DOLLAR DOESN'T HELP EITHER!!! CONSIDER THIS, THE PURCHASING POWER OF A DOLLAR HAS DWINDLED TO THE PURCHASING POWER OF A NICKEL IN THE LAST 100 YEARS!!!

your probably right, preacher. i'd just noticed that since pres.obama took office' gas prices were up 93%' while oil prices were down(from '08). i was just curious if it had any thing to do with energy prices "necessarily rising to european levels".

Is there anywhere that lists the state taxes on the gas at the pumps? I was told that Tennessee has one of the highest taxes on gas in the nation, but like i said it was just a hillbilly talking to another. That would be about fitting though considering we are way up there in unemployment rates.

Nope they were wrong i found it. Tennessee ranks 36th while New York ranks 1rst with almost 50 cents of taxes on gas.

The Govt makes about 10 times what the oil companys make on a gallon of gas. Do you really think they want us to quit driving our 12 mile a gallon pickups?

Actually it was Carter when there was a supposed gas shortage. Had to wait in line for gas, many stations would only sell $10 worth. That was about 78 or 79. There was always all the gas you wanted before that.

In 1973 OPEC imposed an oil embargo in response to the US suppling the Israel military. It lasted till early '74. In 73 gas was $.39 in 74 it was $.53 In 77 it was $.66 and in 80 at the end of the Carter Admin. it was $1.25.
In 1979 Carter imposed an oil embargo because of the hostage situation in Iran.
