Was told a funny story the other day.

Well it's funny cause the guy got caught.

This man went huntin one night and his dog struck and got treed. While he was walking to the tree the dog shut up. He didn't know why but he didn't hear him anymore and so he called for him and waited. Still nothing. So he decided to leave and drive around the old road and look some. As he was going down the road he went around a curve and met another truck. They were pretty close so the other truck swerved and ran off the road into a ditch. The man stopped to help the guy. While looking at the truck he saw a dog in his dog box. He took a closer look and what do ya know, the guy thought he had gotten away with stealing a dog off the tree!!

Not sure what was said or if the thief got his butt kicked but it made me wonder how many of you have had caught someone trying to steal your dog?

I'm glad that the dog was recovered.

Many years ago one of my dogs got in with some other dogs. I drove around and found them and asked about my dog. They let me look and sure enough they had him. I pulled him out and was asked how my collar got on their dog. We kept it cool and on closer inspection of the dog they agreed that it was my dog. At this point they asked me to stay with them as they wanted me to know why they had made the mistake. On gathering up their other dogs I heard their redbone and he sounded exactly like my dog as well as looking like him. Their's was a 2 year old and mine was 5.

wow thats a crazy story. the craziest story iv ever heard of dog theives was people had permission to hunt on alot of farm land with only about 3 houses on it, the land had a river that ran threw it and some of the boys that lived in one of the farm houses would wait for the hunters to turn lose and the boys would drive around on the other side of the river and wait for the dogs to tree as soon as they did they would snatch them off the tree and take their collars off, fasten them to stirofoam and throw them in the river, hunters would be tracking down river and boys would be gone with the dogs! thats the worst dog theif story i have heard.

That worked out well, good thing both of you were not worked up to start with. A case like that has potential to get going the wrong way so easy. If you didn't make a friend at least you didn't make an enemy. It is good to read a positive story on here like this one. Even the first post of him finding his dog before it was run away with is good. Having the guy get his truck hung up is good for a laugh.

A good many years ago I had just bought a Wildlife 1000 tracking receiver. I had been using a Wildlife 3 dog unit. A friend and I went hunting on my first night using the 1000. We turned loose back off the road behind a locked gate. We heard some other dogs treeing a good way from us. We hadn't done anything and my buddy had to go to work on the graveyard shift that night so we decided to go. We got all our dogs loaded but my male named Bank. I pulled out the tracker and told my buddy which way to drive. We got as far as we could that way and I checked the tracker again it said a different direction. This went on several times and I was mad and started cussing the 1000. Everytime we headed toward where it said the dog was he would be in a different direction when we got there. We finally pulled out on the road and I got the tracker out near an intersection with another road. I could hear a truck and the 1000 was saying the dog was in the direction of the truck. The farther the truck got the weaker the signal. About the time it dawned on me that Bank must be in the truck we heard the truck stop and turn around and head our way. As the truck got closer there was no doubt Bank was in it. The truck pulled up to us and there were 2 fellows and Bank riding in the front seat. Their dogs were in the box and they had been riding around hunting us. Bank had come into their dogs and followed them to the truck. Nice honest fellows but I sure put a cussing on that Wildlife 1000 that night before I knew what was going on.
