I have now made 4 bench CH and one GRCH, but still have yet to master the dogs holding there heads up alone. They will stand on the bench and not move a muscle .. But they will look around with there heads and won't stay in that nice straight position. I would like to be more competitive in the larger shows and I think it is an important part.

Are there any tips to get this done?

squeeze there muzzle and turn there head. when there head is where you want it, ease up on the pressure. keep doing it!

whatever you do, do NOT make the nose point up in the air!!! this will cause the correct shoulders/neck position to break. and if the dog has a "chicken breast" it will make it much worse.

depending on the dog and breeding, they could either be hard headed or not smart enough to figure it out!

keep working with them, sometimes you have to "get on to them". you dont want to get into the habit of always holding their heads - it will make the dog lazier and think "why should I do it if mom/dad is going to do it for me?"

i think it runs in my line. almost every one has an issue with heads!!! keep working at it.
